Dasan Ahanu
Template:TOCnestleft Dasan Ahanu)...a.k.a. Chris Massenburg is a Durham, North Carolina poet and activist. He is a public speaker, organizer, workshop facilitator, poet, performance artist, songwriter, playwright, writer, educator, recording artist, and loyal Hip Hop head born and raised in Raleigh, North Carolina. He is one of the founders of Black Poetry Theatre (BPT) where he is a writer, director, producer, and cast member. Dasan is also the founder of the Jambalaya Soul Slam and coach of Durham, NC’s own Bull City Slam Team (BCST) that competes regionally and nationally. A supporter of youth arts and poetry, he has worked with the Sacrificial Poets, the Triangle's youth spoken word organization. He is a resident artist at the Hayti Heritage Center in Durham and an Assistant Professor of English & Creative Writing at Saint Augustine's University in Raleigh, NC.

Dasan Ahanu was a co-founder of Men Against Rape Culture, with Freedom Road Socialist Organization member Bryan Proffitt and a poet, emcee, activist, organizer, and educator.
He is an artist-in-residence at the Hayti Heritage Center in Durham and at St. Augustine's College in Raleigh, NC. Also a recording artist and songwriter, he recently released an album with music producer Picasso entitled The Jim Crow Jackson Experiment on Amp Truth Records.

Rally against rape
A march and rally took place Durham, North Carolina April 28 2007 against sexual violence and assault. The protest was called Creating a World Without Sexual Violence—National Day of Truthtelling (DOT).
The organizing DOT coalition was made up of Black Workers for Justice, Freedom Road Socialist Organization, Independent Voices, Men Against Rape Culture, North Carolina Coalition Against Sexual Assault, Raleigh Fight Imperialism—Stand Together, Spirit House, Southerners On New Ground (SONG) and UBUNTU.
Alexis Gumbs, a Black graduate student at Duke, read a moving open letter to the crowd in front of the Buchanan house.
The main rally was held on the steps of the Durham County Courthouse. Speakers there included Serena Sebring, UBUNTU; Monika Johnson Hostler, NCCASA; Paulina Hernandez, SONG; Tyneisha Bowens and Laura Bickford, Raleigh FIST; Shafeah M'Balia, Women’s Commission of BWFJ, and Phoenix Brangman, Dasan Ahanu and Bryan Proffitt of Men Against Rape Culture. A number of the speakers linked the issue of sexual violence to the struggle for immigrant rights and against racism, homophobia, capitalism, militarism and imperialism.[2]
