- Welcome to the official group of the Democratic Socialists of America’s National Climate & Environmental Justice Work Group!
- We come from different backgrounds, have taken different paths to becoming environmentalists, activists, and socialists and have varying beliefs around what Socialism means to us, but we come together for the purpose of building a society that provides equality and democracy to all. We believe that everyone should have a voice in how our society is run and how the economic benefits are shared. We recognize that Socialism cannot be achieved while structural oppression continues, workers are divided, and the earth is exploited beyond repair. Socialism, as a movement, confronts these different systems of oppression as mutually conditioning, intersectional, and/or dialectically related within the current hegemonic order. It seeks to overcome oppression in a holistic manner without neglecting any particular axis so that it might be eliminated and genuine social emancipation may be realized.
- The purpose of this group is to connect like-minded, environmentally-focused DSA members across the country and grow awareness of ecosocialism. You are welcome here.
- In order for this group to be successful, please adhere to the following principles.
1. Everyone is welcome regardless of race, religion, sex, gender, economic status, etc. 2. This is a closed group on Facebook, which means that posts can only be seen by members of the group. Please do not share posts from this group to other Facebook pages or across other social media platforms. When posting your own comments, please keep the security limitations in mind. 3. Federal, police, libertarian and/or right-wing infiltrators are not allowed. No trashing/trolling DSA or promoting democratic centralist groups. 4. We encourage discussions and feedback on various topics as long as they are done in a civil and comradely way. Please be respectful of other group members at all times. Refrain from sharing screenshots of other members' post histories. Refrain from using inappropriate language, passing judgment or shaming other members or classes. Please be especially mindful of this when discussing the following: a. Actions taken by the DSA national office or DSA local chapters b. Actions of various candidates or public figures 5. Anyone in the group can create or share a local event, share a post, etc. 6. Please do not solicit unrelated, personal business. We only encourage soliciting people to join DSA or do organizing stuff, of course. 7. Anyone who does not adhere to the above principles will be given one warning. If the warning is not heeded, you will be removed from the group.
- We very much look forward to your participation in our group! Solidarity forever.[1]
