Statement on Anti Blackness in the DSA
Statement on Anti Blackness in the DSA was released in February 2021:
We as the AfroSocialist and Socialists of Color Caucus stand in solidarity with the Black woman in DSA North Texas who was wrongfully suspended by DSA North Texas Co-chairs. This action by the DSA North Texas Co-chairs is racist and in particular anti-Black. This is not an isolated incident of racism but represents a pattern of anti-black and white supremacist actions within DSA which must be acknowledged, held accountable and systematically rooted out. There is a pattern of anti-black behavior that stems from the founding of DSA North Texas that has led to each generation of Co-chairs either perpetuating or being complicit in anti-black racism.

ANDREW R. PERRINE ('ANDY') Running for: Steering Committee at-large
WHAT CITY OR NEIGHBORHOOD ARE YOU IN? Westside Village/Palms
HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN INVOLVED WITH DSA-LA? Since January 2018 WHAT ABOUT DSA MADE YOU WANT TO JOIN? I joined DSA to be a part of a radical leftist organization that was not simply sitting around and doing electoral work in the centrist milieu of bourgeoisie electoralism or raising a few heckles at a march and going home to debate on Venezuela. I joined DSA to get involved in an organization that can organize direct action and natively organize issue campaigns, while still being able to cope with the current electoral realities of our bourgeoisie political system; where any and every viable strategy to push back against capital could find a home; one which will not force a political line on its membership, and can be a big tent in which to build a mass movement. I am aware not all of what we have done as an organization, especially nationally, has lived up to this ideal, but I believe that building a better DSA will be a part of building a better future.
