Sunkara is the former editor of the Young Democratic Socialists website, The Activist. In 2010 he was still serving on the editorial committee.[1]
Communist Party convention
At the June 2014 Communist Party USA 30th convention Chicago - Saturday, the People's World hosted a panel discussion panel discussion the mass media with Kari Lyderson, Social Justice Chicago Reporting Fellowship, Northwestern University, Bhaskar Sunkara, publisher of jacobin.com, Don Washington, MayoralTutorial.com, and Sue Webb, co-editor of Peoples World.[2]
Mapping Socialist Strategies
Mapping Socialist Strategies was convened from August 1-4,2014 in Briarcliff Manor, NY, by the Rosa Luxemburg Stiftung—New York Office. It brang together 100 influential progressives and leftists from across the United States, Canada, and Europe for an “un-conference” on socialist strategies.
The "Advisory Group" consistied of Greg Albo, Laura Flanders, Bill Fletcher, Jr., Rachel LaForest, Sarah Leonard, John Nichols, Frances Fox Piven, Bhaskar Sunkara, Maria Svart, Sean Sweeney, Bill Tabb, and Steve Williams.[3]

The 2016-17 Democratic Socialists of America National Political Committee elected members are: Jared Abbott, Hope Adair, Theresa Alt, David Green, Jose Gutierrez, Elizabeth Henderson, Frank Llewellyn, Sean Monahan, Simone Morgen, Brandon Peyton-Carillo, Joseph Schwartz, Peg Strobel and Russell Weiss-Irwin. The convention also voted to add two new honorary vice chairs: Deborah Meier and Bhaskar Sunkara. [6]
