Standing for AD 53
In 2019 Nancy Kim stood from AD 53 for the California Democratic Party Central Committee.
Nancy is a trilingual union organizer for California Nurses Association/National Nurses United. Born and raised in Koreatown, Los Angeles — she has experience working with various local community organizations, including Koreatown Youth & Community Center (KYCC) and Children’s Bureau Magnolia Place to empower her local community. She is a member of Progressive Asian Network for Action (PANA; formerly AAPI for Bernie Sanders), Democratic Socialists of America (DSA), and a former GWNC Neighborhood Councilmember and former supervolunteer & PLEO Delegate for U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders at the Democratic National Convention in 2016.
She is very passionate about public campaign finance, Medicare-for-All, rent control, a humane & compassionate immigration policy reform and strengthening labor unions and public education in the U.S. She understands that elected delegates alone cannot implement the aforementioned policies by merely fulfilling the minimum requirements of a delegate (i.e. attending annual conventions of the California Democratic Party to endorse Party officials, ballots, resolutions and statewide legislative/congressional candidates.)
Working class Angelenos want to see positive change in the quality of life for our families and neighbors. This can be propelled by delegates who work together with the local grassroots of Los Angeles across different ethnic communities and progressive organizations through collection action in solidarity. Nancy believes delegates are also most effective when they wear multiple hats as a community organizer, a whistleblower, and a researcher — because an active, informed citizenry is key to building a true democracy. Vote #TeamOrdinaryCitizen & power to the People!!![3]
