In 2018 Rachel Johnson ran for Steering Committee of Northside Chicago Democratic Socialists of America.
- Hi, my name is Rachel Johnson and I’m excited to declare my interest in running for the Northside Steering Committee. A bit about me: I’ve been a DSA member for almost a year. I’ve previously worked as a public school teacher and now write social justice-oriented history curriculum for an education nonprofit, in addition to writing occasionally for In These Times.
- Since joining DSA, I’ve taken a leadership position as turnout coordinator for the Labor Working Group (LWG) and worked as a mobilizer for our mobilizing program. My involvement has been principally motivated by the belief that our focus should be translating the momentum from the aftermath of the 2016 presidential election into a potent political force for democratic socialism. To that end, I hope to accomplish the following as a member of the Steering Committee:[3]
