Standing for AD 37
In 2019 Jeike Meijer stood from AD 37 for the California Democratic Party Central Committee.
As a Native American queer woman, I have grown up in a world with inadequate representation for people like me. This is why I ran to be a CA Democratic Delegate two years ago and this is why I’m running for re-election. I am a third year Global Studies and Feminist Studies double major at UCSB. Throughout my life experiences and field of study I have grown to understand multiple viewpoints and have found myself aligning with the Democratic Party which this year historically helped America’s first Native American congresswomen get elected
Last year I served as the UCSB Campus Democrats Vice President and was able to connect and learn from other students as well as work to encourage voter turnout in Isla Vista. In these past two years as an ADEM delegate, I have been able to represent not only Native American California residents, women, the queer community, students but other underrepresented groups. I have had the privilege to meet party candidates as well as state representatives and been able to ask them questions affecting students, my communities, and others. I have been able to connect with other delegates working to create change for these communities as well and have been able to better learn how to uplift multiple groups. As an underrepresented person myself I understand what it means to not have people in our leadership spaces. The Democratic Party has proven to be a party which prioritizes equal opportunity, justice, and representation. I hope to have the privilege again to serve as a CA Democratic Delegate to continue uplifting those around me.[1]

Calling all my VC and Santa Barbara people! If you live in Ojai, Oxnard, Santa Paula, Ventura, Santa Barbara, or Carpenteria, and you are a registered Democrat, please turn out tomorrow to vote for Arthur Valenzuela, James Forsythe, Karina Kaye, and the other members of the district's progressive slate in tomorrow's ADEM elections! When Bernie Sanders talked about making the Democratic Party the party of the people, this is what he meant. Don't stay home, be part of the change you want to see!
