Gus Hall Memorial Service
Gus Hall's memorial service was held on November 19, 2000. It was hosted by the Communist Party USA and Cooper Union. It was featured on CSPAN.[1]
- "Gus Hall died in New York City on October 13, 2000. At this memorial service co-workers and family reminisced and gave readings from Mr. Hall’s writings. Bobbie Wood read a statement from her husband National Vice-Chair Scott Marshall, Chair of the Labor Commission, who was confined to his bed. Chet Washington sang, accompanied by Tim Yeager. There was also a video presentation."

Herbert Aptheker Testimonial Dinner
On April 28, 1966 Gus Hall was a speaker at the Herbert Aptheker Testimonial Dinner. The dinner was held on the occasion of Herbert Aptheker's 50th birthday, the publication of his 20th book, and the 2nd anniversary of the American Institute for Marxist Studies. It was held in the Sutton Ballroom, The New York Hilton, Avenue of the Americas, 53rd to 54th Street, New York City. Most speakers, organizers and sponsors were known members or supporters of the Communist Party USA.
Hall was also a sponsor of the event.[2]
Elections
Ishmael Flory tribute
Illinois Communist Party USA leader Ishmael Flory was honored at Malcolm X College in Chicago, September 29, 1991, by more than 100 guests.
Margaret Burroughs, a board member of the Chicago Park District MCed the event.
"Ishmael Flory is a man for all seasons...He never gives up", said State Senator Alice Palmer.
Alderman Jesus Garcia of Chicago's 22nd ward cited Flory's role in fostering African-American and Latino unity , and in building multi-racial coalitions for social progress.
Prof. Robert Starks of the Free South Africa Movement said "Ishmael has never failed to compliment me on my speeches, but at the same time he has never failed to pull me aside afterwards, too point out how I could have been a little more "progressive."
Tributes came from Communist Party USA chairman Gus Hall and Illinois organizational secretary Mark Almberg.
Other speakers included Crystal Bujol for the Flory family, long time friend Christine Johnson, Jack Spiegel of the Amalgamated Clothing Workers Union, Ronelle Mustin, peace activist Sarah Staggs, Harold Rogers, who brought greetings from Rep. Charles Hayes, Gerry Oliver, and Carl Bloice of the Peoples Weekly World.[3]
Supported Communist Party call
In May 1992 the Communist Party USA newspaper Peoples Weekly World published a May Day supplement which included a call to "support our continuing struggle for justice and dignity"
Endorsers of the call included Gus Hall, USWA, retired.[4]
Communist Party's May Day Salute
In 1995 the Communist Party USA newspaper People's Weekly World, published a "May Day salute" to the "heroes in the class war zone". More than 100 unionists/activists endorsed the call, mostly known affiliates, or members of the Communist Party.
Gus Hall, USWA, SOAR, National Chair Communist Party USA was one of those listed[5].
Paul Robeson celebration
On May 31 1998 the Peoples Weekly World held a Paul Robeson birth centennial celebration in New York, at the Henry Winston Auditorium.
Attendees included;

- Gus Hall, chairman of the Communist Party USA, talked of meeting Robeson annually to collect his dues and renew his party membership

- Tom Duane authored a City Council proclamation praising Robeson's lifelong fight for a "world at peace, free of racism, inequality and for unity"...and his fight against the erosion of domestic freedom of expression and fanatical anti-communism....Paul Robeson has become a model and an inspiration to all of us..."
- Richard Gottfried, presented a resolution from the New York State assembly honoring Robeson. Democrat David Paterson introduced the resolution in the State Senate. Republican John Marchi and Democrats Richard Gottfried and Roger Green, introduced it in the State Assembly.[6]
