In August 2017 Celeste Earley stood for election to the Democratic Socialists of America National Political Committee, at the National Convention in Chicago, from Anchorage Democratic Socialists of America.[1]
- I’m a queer trans woman living in Oakland. I work as a writer, editor, and podcast creator. Lately I’ve been really involved in prison/police abolition work in the Bay Area, but I’ve been known to cut a rug at the odd shindig for reproductive rights. I’m really into pinball and pro wrestling.
- I was a founding member of the Socialist Feminist and Prison Abolition caucuses in my chapter and have worked with DSA members elsewhere to establish similar caucuses/working groups in their home chapters.
- My primary focus is representing and coordinating DSA support for local coalitions doing direct action and legislative advocacy against police brutality and deportation in the Bay Area.[2]
DSA Friends and Comrades coalition
The DSA Friends and Comrades coalition stood several people for DSA national Political committee at the Democratic Socialists of America August 2017 National Convention in Chicago.
According to John Michael Colon;
- The DSA Friends and Comrades coalition is something that came out of DSA Libertarian Socialist Caucus members and was organized by LSC members informally and hasn't been approved by the group. We wish them well, and some of us will vote for them and promote them on our social media, but they don't represent the LSC. Next convention we aim to organize a primary and democratic process to put forward a slate. [3]
