Quad Cities Democratic Socialists of America is an Illinois/Iowa local of Democratic Socialists of America.

Steering Committee, 2024

Backing John Deere strikers

The workers at John Deere are voting to authorize a call for a strike. The 10,000 workers at the twelve plants that span Illinois, Iowa, and Kansas are asking the Fortune 100 company to share its prosperity directly. John Deere has relied on the Midwest community for its labor, yet the company's passive conduct has sent its income to its general spending. "The workers in the Quad Cities need their voices heard," Sarah Elgatian, Vice Chair of the Quad Cities Democratic Socialists of America, "John Deere has been a significant employer in our region for its entire history as a company. To provide the workers less than what they earn for the company is a slap in the face. Deere needs to stop thinking of their workers as a commodity and instead as the key to their profits."

QC DSA stands with the Quad City workers of UAW, because an injury to one is an injury to all.

Leadership

In 2017 Chase Burghgrave was the contact for Quad Cities Democratic Socialists of America Organizing Committee.

Co-chair

In July 2018 Quad Cities Democratic Socialists of America's co-chair was Laura Helena Rodriguez. [2]

2019 leadership

On a cold wintery day at the end of January 2019, Quad Cities Democratic Socialists of America members made their way to the basement meeting room of the Davenport Library to discuss goals for the upcoming year and elect new officers for the local chapter. The meeting started off with introductions as we welcomed Christoffer Lammer-Heindel and Christine Darr visiting from the Dubuque DSA Chapter. We also welcomed several prospective members for which this was their first meeting reminding those who are new to consider signing up for automatic monthly dues through which a certain percentage of dues goes to the chapter.

After introductions, the chapter meeting moved on to nominations for the executive board. After compiling the nominations from the nominating committee and taking nominations from the floor we ended up with five members nominated for the five positions. Nominations were as follows: AJ Reed for Chair, Kelly Kruse for Vice-Chair, Amber Rajcevich for Secretary, Dan Foley for Treasurer, and James Blue for Sergeant at Arms. Being that only one person was nominated for each position a motion was made to accept the positions by acclimation to which a friendly amendment was made to postpone voting until after several agenda items had been addressed.[3]
