5 DAYS LEFT. Youth Organizer Teresa Engst:
"I'm voting justice because I believe in our schools, our youth, and our communities. We need resources to go into our communities, not out. We need our elected officials to be accountable to us. That is why I choose the 215PA #VoteJustice slate."
Asian Americans United - 28th Anniversary
Asian Americans United November 19, 2013:
Cheers and thanks to all who volunteered (Go AAU, go!), sponsored, hosted, donated, presented, emceed, deejayed, cooked, mixed sangria, performed and celebrated at AAU's memorable 28th anniversary benefit concert/dance featuring Nobuko Miyamoto with Theo Gonzalves! Intergenerational groups presented AAU's Standing Up for Justice Awards to Grayce Uyehara, John Elliott Churchville, and 1Love Movement. Emcee Kao Khue wove the program together like poetry.
Nobuko wrote and sang a new song for the first time: ”You are the ones we've been waiting for...” And all joined in singing: ”We are the ones we've been waiting for.”
...with so much gratitude for all who build communities and work for justice.

The Legal Aid Society
Community Legal Services
On October 26, 2010, Philadelphia Chinatown Development Corporation organized a Tenant Rights Work-shop for tenants in Chinatown who speak limited English. People with limited English proficiency are less likely to go to unfamiliar service agencies for help. The goal of the workshop was to help tenants learn their rights and get familiar with some of the service providers. Rachel Garland, and Teresa Engst from Community Legal Services (CLS), Phil Lord from Tenant Union Representative Network (TURN), and San Chin from Philadelphia Fair Housing Commission were invited to speak during the workshop. About 50 tenants in Chinatown attended the informative workshop.
