Ruth Hayes

Ruth Hayes has worked in the charity sector for most of her working life, and was the Director of Islington Law Centre for 18 years until last year. She is currently works for Islington North Labour Party as a Campaign Organiser, and is a part-time carer. She is a local primary school governor, Trustee and volunteer in a number of settings.

She has been active in the Trade Union movement for over 30 years, and represents Community, Youth Workers and Not for Profit members on the Executive Council of Unite the Union. She also chairs the regional and national industrial sector committees for this sector, and is on the Executive of Islington Trades Council.

She has lived in Islington for over 25 years, and has been involved in a range of campaigns and community activities – particularly the fight to restore access to justice.
