George Soros

George Soros (born August 12, 1930, as György Schwartz, in Budapest, Hungary), is one of the wealthiest people in the world (rated number 35 in 2010) and is a leading funder and organizer for progressive organizations and progressive causes. He is a proclaimed atheist.

Soros is the Chairman of Soros Fund Management, LLC and founder of The Open Society Institute. Soros claims his political activities are separate from the Open Society Institute.[1] He is a former member of the Board of Directors of the Council on Foreign Relations. Abortion

Soros’s main goal in Central and South-Eastern Europe is “to improve the quality of abortion services.” Accordingly, his Public Health Program has focused on the introduction of easily available abortion all over the region and the introduction of manual vacuum aspiration (MVA) abortion in Macedonia, Moldova and Russia. Why is Soros so keen to promote more abortions? Overpopulation cannot be the reason: the region is experiencing a huge demographic collapse and has some of the lowest fertility rates in the world. Unavailability of abortions cannot be the answer either: only five European countries had more abortions than live births in 2000: the Russian Federation, Bulgaria, Belarus, Romania and the Ukraine. The only answer is that Soros wants as few little European Orthodox Christians born into this world as possible.[2]

Bretton Woods Conference

A monetary conference sponsored by the Institute for New Economic Thinking - a nonprofit founded in 2009 with a $50 million pledge from George Soros - will be held April 8-11, 2011 at the Mount Washington Hotel in Bretton Woods. Bretton Woods is the location of a monetary conference that was held following World War II.[3] From Wikipedia:

The Bretton Woods system of monetary management established the rules for commercial and financial relations among the world's major industrial states in the mid 20th century. The Bretton Woods system was the first example of a fully negotiated monetary order intended to govern monetary relations among independent nation-states.
Preparing to rebuild the international economic system as World War II was still raging, 730 delegates from all 44 Allied nations gathered at the Mount Washington Hotel in Bretton Woods, New Hampshire, United States, for the United Nations Monetary and Financial Conference. The delegates deliberated upon and signed the Bretton Woods Agreements during the first three weeks of July 1944.
Setting up a system of rules, institutions and procedures to regulate the international monetary system, the planners at Bretton Woods established the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD), which today is part of the World Bank Group. These organizations became operational in 1945 after a sufficient number of countries had ratified the agreement.
The chief features of the Bretton Woods system were an obligation for each country to adopt a monetary policy that maintained the exchange rate by tying its currency to the U.S. dollar and the ability of the IMF to bridge temporary imbalances of payments.
On August 15, 1971, the United States unilaterally terminated convertibility of the dollar to gold. As a result, "[t]he Bretton Woods system officially ended and the dollar became fully 'fiat currency,' backed by nothing but the promise of the federal government." This action, referred to as the Nixon shock, created the situation in which the United States dollar became the sole backing of currencies and a reserve currency for the member states.

Climate Change

Soros is a huge proponent of cap and trade. The following dialogue is very similar to Van Jones' statement: "We're not going to put a new battery in a broken system."[4]

Soros: ...work on a better world order where we work together to resolve problems that confront humanity like global warming. And I think that dealing with global warming will require a lot of investment.

Soros: You see, for the last 25 years the world economy, the motor of the world economy that has been driving it was consumption by the American consumer who has been spending more than he has been saving, all right? Than he's been producing. So, that motor is now switched off. It's finished. It's run out of --- can't continue. You need a new motor. And we have a big problem. Global warming. It requires big investment. And that could be the motor of the world economy in the years to come... Instead of consuming, building an electric grid, saving on energy, rewiring the houses, adjusting your lifestyle where energy has got to cost more until you introduce those new things. So, it will be painful. But at least we will survive and not cook.

Moyers: You're talking about this being the end of an era and needing to create a whole new paradigm for the economic model of the country, of the world, right?

Soros: Yes.

In 2009, Soros announced the formation of the Climate Policy Initiative to address global warming and said he would fund it with $10 million a year over 10 years.

Friends of the Earth is another group that receives Soros money. In 2008 they received $50,000 from OSI to "build and support an international network of organizations dedicated to improving the environmental, social and developmental impacts of Chinese overseas investments." Friends of the Earth also received $180,000 from the Tides Foundation in 2008 to "integrate a climate equity perspective in the presidential transition."

The 2010 Investor Summit on Climate Risk was held on January 14, 2010, at the United Nations Headquarters in New York City and was co-hosted by the UN Office for Partnerships, Ceres and the UN Foundation. In introducing George Soros, the Chairman of Soros Fund Management, LLC, Mindy Lubber described him as an "extraordinarily successful financial leader" who has pioneered some of the issues discussed at the Summit and who understands finance and climate change. She also described him as an "extraordinary philanthropist" who has fought for open society and democracy. Below are summaries of the topics Soros covered in his closing remarks:[5]

Reflections on Copenhagen

"George Soros opened by offering his reflections on Copenhagen, which he deemed “a failure.” He suggested that there was a general recognition of the importance of the issue, but national interests prevailed. Soros stated that Copenhagen was not the end of the road; it showed that there should be a bigger push by civil society to get the governments to reach some kind of agreement."

Policy Needs in the United States

"Soros observed how most of the countries at Copenhagen recognized the importance of the problem. Soros asserted that “the United States is the laggard.” The United States, by not passing a bill in Copenhagen, reflected a poor image to the rest of the world. He declared that “we have to catch up” and suggested that supporting the passage of climate legislation this year is “where we really need to exert ourselves.”"

Opportunities for Carbon-Saving Investments

"Soros maintained that “there are great opportunities for energy-saving or carbon-saving investments which are commercially viable without any legislation.” He referenced the potential returns from energy productivity. He went on to say that the substantial money from the stimulus package creates an opportunity and he is working on the equity side of it – further adding that he “would be very happy to find some pension funds that would be happy with returns in the high teens for 30 years.” He proposed that “there are many deals of that kind” that could be put together and that this is the year to do them."

Special Drawing Rights

"Soros noted a particular failure of Copenhagen: the plan of assembling $10 billion per year for three years to support lesser-developed countries. Soros went on to argue that the outcome was not good, particularly given that the G20 in London offered $1 trillion with just “some smoke and mirrors.”
One of those smoke-and-mirror items was the issuance of $283 billion of special drawing rights (SDRs), which could be used to provide a much more significant amount of support to the less developed world. Soros put forward a proposal in Copenhagen to use special drawing rights for this purpose. He explained that special drawing rights are a very difficult instrument; if one wants to actually spend the money, one has to pay interest until the money is repaid, which is why most developed countries really have no use for the SDRs. Soros suggested they could transfer the SDRs to a green fund. The problem is that if it is actually spent, someone has to pay the interest – which is very low at only half a percent at the moment, but still a stumbling block. If a country donates the SDRs, it scores as a budgetary expense; every country has spent a lot of money recently to stimulate the economy and has to run budget deficits, so adding to the deficits to help other countries is a political non-starter.
Soros identified another problem with this approach, which is that anything the U.S. does with the IMF needs Congressional approval, which is hard to obtain. Soros suggested that the Obama administration has had a hard time passing the original SDR allocations and is reluctant to go back to Congress and for this reason the main opposition to the proposal is from the U.S. administration. Given the political difficulty, public opinion could play an important role. More in depth, serious financial people could play a role in steering public option, which would be a worthwhile cause that comes with no monetary cost. “If there is anything like a free lunch, this actually is it.”"

Investor Actions Going Forward

"Soros concluded by discussing what investors, like those at the Summit, should do. He congratulated investors for releasing a policy statement, saying “it’s important that your voice be heard.” He suggested it is time “to be more proactive” and that “letting the world know what you are willing to finance would be very, very helpful.” Soros expressed pride in the hedge fund community, “which actually has done a lot;” hedge fund managers in London have financed the European Climate Foundation which plays an important role in Europe. He also noted his own engagement, including sponsoring a climate policy institute that he hopes will be able to help resolve the US-China tension by providing independent verification.
Soros described it as “really a tremendous accomplishment” that the Summit attracted so many people who are concerned with the issues and he predicted that by pulling together, [leaders in the investment and financial community] will be able to make significant change."

Death and Dying/Euthanasia

The Project on Death in America, active from 2001–2003, was one of the Open Society Institute's projects, which sought to "understand and transform the culture and experience of dying and bereavement." In 1994, Soros delivered a speech in which he reported that he had offered to help his mother, a member of the Hemlock Society, commit suicide. In the same speech, he also endorsed the Oregon Death with Dignity Act, a campaign he helped fund.[6][7]

Death Penalty

In 2000, Soros signed a letter addressed to President Bill Clinton asking him to place a moratorium on federal death penalty executions. The letter maintained that the "death penalty system" was "distorted by bias and arbitrariness." Other signatories included Mary Frances Berry, Julian Bond, Wade Henderson, Jesse Jackson, Norman Lear, Jim Wallis, Robert Reich and Barbra Streisand.[8]

Dodd-Frank Law

During 2010 and 2011, Soros provided strong support for the Democrat's progressives financial "reforms" under the sweeping Dodd-Frank Law. Soros intoned across the globe and in a myriad of financial publications about the need for increased regulatory controls over his industry. In November of 2008, he submitted a statement to the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform that recommended: "The entire regulatory framework needs to be reconsidered, and hedge funds need to be regulated within that framework."

Under Title IV of Dodd-Frank, hedge funds were required to abide by new registration and reporting requirements in an attempt to better police systemic risk. To get around these regulations, Soros and other firms have utilized a recently passed rule allowing so-called family offices to shield themselves from both registration and disclosure rules that would have subjected Soros Inc. to a new "Financial Stability Oversight Council."

GOP Sen. Richard Shelby of Alabama called Soros' on the carpet over this, telling Reuters this week: "It appears that Mr. Soros talked up financial reform only to sell it short. Don't be surprised to see his fellow Wall Street financiers follow suit."[9]

Education

A group affiliated with George Soros became the latest to join the assault on for-profit education, accusing proprietary colleges last week of offering predatory loans to satisfy referral rules governing financial aid.[10]

The well-heeled National Consumer Law Center, released a report in which the group criticized the for-profit education industry for allegedly gaming the so-called “90/10″ rules, which mandates that at least ten percent of student financial aid must be secured from non-federal lenders.

Even beyond the support of Soros, NCLC counts The Institute For College and Success (TICAS) among its “generous” donors.
As BIG GOVERNMENT previously reported, TICAS was founded by Robert Shireman, who later became an advisor to President Barack Obama’s transition team and senior official in the Department of Education.
At TICAS, Shireman lobbied the federal government to more strictly redefine the regulatory regime governing for-profit schools. But finally installed as a member of bureaucracy he once lobbied, Shireman had the power and wherewithal to impose those regulations.

Shireman’s DoE put his plan in play by hosting short-sellers with open intentions to cripple the industry for financial gain — to undermine career colleges.

To date, none of the coverage of NCLC’s report includes mention of the group’s deep ties to those progressive groups working to eliminate the industry.

Energy

GASLAND Trailer 2010, May 5, 2010

America's huge reserves of natural gas-bearing shale offer lower energy prices and the hope of increasing our energy independence. George Soros has been highly influential in the industry with his network of grant recipients to hobble development of America's energy.

The movie Gasland came out of nowhere to slam the shale gas industry -- an industry that has already substantially brought down the price of natural gas throughout the nation, saving consumers and business untold billions of dollars in energy costs. The natural gas boom spawned by technologies such as horizontal drilling and fracking have also enriched citizens and states that have reaped part of the bounty brought to the surface by these technologies. Gasland casts aspersions regarding the safety of these technologies, especially to the water tables.

The film's charges have been rebutted. State departments that regulate energy development have praised energy companies for their environmentally sensitive practices.

Nevertheless, Gasland has provided fuel for critics of shale gas development. There is solid speculation that Democrats are trying to stop the tapping of this vast resource and that major Democratic donor George Soros would be a beneficiary if shale gas were stopped in its tracks. His bought and paid for group, MoveOn.org, has diverted from its typical topics of interest and has thrown itself into the battle over shale gas. The movie is also backed and funded by the Sundance Institute, which used to be called the Soros Documentary Fund, and is now the Soros propaganda outlet in the US.[11]

Elections

Soros supported the McCain-Feingold Bipartisan Campaign Reform Act of 2002, which was touted as an effort to end "soft money" contributions to federal election campaigns. In reality, it was a move to control elections with private money and power. Soros devised McCain-Feingold in 1994 in response to the failure of Hillarycare, the universal health-care program Hillary Clinton championed. Russ Feingold is a progressive Democrat who is in league with Soros. John McCain is a progressive Republican who was promised monetary compensation. From WorldNetDaily:

"Money paid to the Reform Institute rewarded McCain for pushing the McCain-Feingold Act, a law which restricts the ability of grass-roots groups to advertise on television, while allowing major media free rein to promote their favorite Democrat candidates," Poe told WND.[12]

You can trace Soros' determination to push for campaign finance reform back to a speech Soros gave at Columbia University's school of medicine on Nov. 30, 1994. In that address, Soros spoke primarily of a new initiative he was launching called the Project on Death in America.

With his Project on Death in America, Soros sought to promote "palliative care," which means keeping patients comfortable while they are dying, but making no effort to save or extend their lives. This was all in the meme of saving money by rationing health care.

Soros ended his Columbia University speech by promising to "do something" about "the distortion of our electoral process by the excessive use of TV advertising." Thus, McCain-Feingold was conceived... More from WorldNetDaily:

"Its stated purpose was to clean up politics by tightly regulating the amount of money political parties and candidates could accept from donors," Horowitz and Poe wrote. "Its actual purpose, to use Soros' words, was to curb the 'use of TV advertising' in American politics."

Soros was determined to 'control' political advertising as part of his 'open society' agenda. As a result of the planned management of political advertising coming to fruition through the McCain-Feingold Act, there has been an explosion of 501(c)(3) groups who can now advertise whenever and wherever they wish, allowing large progressive groups and cable networks to promote progressive/Marxist candidates at will.

Federal Communications Commission

The NBC/Comcast merger occurred in February of 2011. One of the stipulations from the Federal Communications Commission on the merger was the incorporation of non-profit journalism centers into NBC newsrooms. They are charged with maintaining and increasing local news coverage, the regulation based on the relationship between KNSD-TV and VoiceofSanDiego.org.[13] This is viewed by many as a regulated de facto implementation of the Fairness Doctrine.

KNSD airs the segments, but really can’t take all the credit for them. They are largely the work of VoiceOfSanDiego.org, a local nonprofit journalism center that has been sharing news tips, co-producing and supplying content to the station for several years.

Under the terms of the FCC order approving Comcast’s takeover of NBCU, at least half of NBC’s 10 O&Os have to find a nonprofit news center with which to work within the next year. The order cites the KNSD-VoiceOfSanDiego.org alliance as the model for what it would like to see in other NBC markets.
Proponents of the growing nonprofit news movement are hoping that NBC’s FCC-mandated efforts will bear fruit and encourage other commercial TV stations to seek out nonprofit partners.

Voice of San Diego is a member of INN (Investigative News Network) which is funded by the Open Society Institute. These “non-profit” journalism centers are funded by George Soros.

Fox News

Soros is now comparing Fox News to Nazis. From Business Insider:[14]

"Fox News makes a habit. It has imported the messages of George Orwell, you know news speak. Where you can tell the people falsehoods and deceive them. And you wouldn't believe that an open society and a democracy these matters can succeed but actually they did succeed. They succeeded in Germany where the Weimar Republic collapsed and you had the Nazi regime follow it."

Glenn Beck

In October 2010, Soros announced that he was donating $1 million to Media Matters who would use the money to hold “Fox News host Glenn Beck and others on the cable news channel accountable for their reporting.”

On Sept. 23, 2010, Soros' had his representative have lunch with a representative of Glenn Beck. At the conclusion of a meeting where paranoid accusations were thrown at Beck and Fox News, the Soros' rep. handed a movie to Mr. Beck's representative. It was a movie from 1957, entitled: A Face In The Crowd, starring Andy Griffith. The IMDb description of the movie is as follows:

An Arkansas hobo becomes an overnight media sensation. But as he becomes drunk with fame and power, will he ever be exposed as the fraud he has become?

Soros' rep stated that this was how Mr. Soros views Glenn Beck.

On Dec. 7th, 2010, George Soros referenced the book “1984” while predicting that America’s “open society“ could ”be on the verge of some dictatorial democracy.” Soros then called Beck a throwback to wild and crazy radical elements.[15] The comments were made to CNN newsman Fareed Zakaria at an International Crisis Center dinner honoring Soros.

The account of this interchange was reported by Forbes writer Robert Lenzner:

“Soros was especially bitter and harshly critical of the role [sic] played in our political discourse by the Fox News Channel,” he writes. Soros reportedly described Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp. “as a very dangerous precedent for the ‘open society’ that has prevailed in the U.S. for 200 years.”

Lenzner writes that Soros called Beck “a throwback to the wild and crazy radical elements that never before were given such a public pedestal to foment their hate.” Lenzner unabashedly calls Beck’s recent characterization of Soros as a puppet master trying to bring about the collapse of the U.S. financial and political system as “falsely vilifying Soros publicly.”

“Beck has been trying to stir up public hatred of Soros,” Lenzner concludes.

However, neither Lenzner nor Soros provided any facts to back up their accusations aimed at Beck or Fox News. They did not counter even one of Glenn Beck's pieces of thorough investigative research.

The dinner was attended by a who’s who of upper society. Former President Bill Clinton, Lord Christopher Patten, Chancellor of Oxford University and hedge fund multi-billionaire Paul Tudor Jones spoke highly of Soros at the event. Other attendees, according to Lenzner, included “many financiers, mutual fund managers and former diplomats like Thomas Pickering and John Whitehead.”

Healthcare

Soros pledged millions towards groups to further the national healthcare agenda. Soros — whose operation carefully guards the privacy of such donations — made a pledge of $5 million to Health Care For America Now - HCAN, the leading coalition of pro-reform groups, unions and providers.[16]

Soros also bulked up on healthcare and biotechnology in his investment portfolio as of late 2010.[17]

Illegal Immigration

Soros is an enthusiastic promoter of open immigration and amnesty and special rights for immigrants. He has supported the National Council of La Raza, National Immigration Law Center, National Immigration Forum and dozens of others. He also promotes expansion of public welfare and in late 1996, he created the Emma Lazarus Fund that has given millions in grants to nonprofit legal services groups that undermine provisions of the welfare legislation ending immigrant entitlements.[2]

Israel

In 2007, Soros wrote an article entitled "On Israel, America and AIPAC." In the article, he berated the Bush administration for "committing a major policy blunder in the Middle East" by "supporting the Israeli government in its refusal to recognize a Palestinian unity government that includes Hamas, which the U.S. State Department considers a terrorist organization." He further added that, "This precludes any progress toward a peace settlement at a time when progress on the Palestinian problem could help avert a conflagration in the greater Middle East."[18] More from the article:

"Israel, "with the strong backing of the United States, refused to recognize the democratically elected Hamas government and withheld payment of the millions in taxes collected by the Israelis on its behalf. This caused great economic hardship and undermined the ability of the government to function. But it did not reduce popular support for Hamas among Palestinians, and it reinforced the position of Islamic and other extremists who oppose negotiations with Israel.… Hamas was not willing to go so far as to recognize the existence of Israel but it was prepared to enter into a government of national unity which would have abided by the existing agreements with Israel... But both Israel and the United States seem to be frozen in their unwillingness to negotiate with a Palestinian Authority that includes Hamas. The sticking point is Hamas' unwillingness to recognize the existence of Israel; but that [recognition] could be made a condition for an eventual settlement rather than a precondition for negotiations. The current policy of not seeking a political solution but pursuing military escalation — not just an eye for an eye but roughly speaking ten Palestinian lives for every Israeli one — has reached a particularly dangerous point."

Karl Rove

NR White House Correspondent Byron York's new book, The Vast Left Wing Conspiracy, details how MoveOn.org, George Soros, Michael Moore, 527 groups, Al Franken, and other Democratic activists built the biggest, richest, and best organized political movement in generations. The book reports that in 2003, as Democratic operatives were planning the campaign against President Bush, they obtained a copy of a top-secret Republican strategy plan authored by top White House political adviser Karl Rove. The following excerpt details how those operatives, as part of the effort to woo Soros and other multi-million dollar contributors, showed Soros the secret Rove plan during a crucial planning session at Soros' Hamptons estate. After the meeting, Soros became the biggest campaign donor in American history, giving more than $25 million to the effort to defeat George W. Bush.[19]

Kenyan 2007 Elections

Following Kenya’s disputed elections of December 2007, activists funded by Soros’ Open Society Institute demanded that the election be overturned. The country erupted into violence, leaving more than 1,100 people dead and some 350,000 homeless. Thousands were injured, tortured, mutilated and raped.[20]

Soros began operations in Kenya in 2004. On June 1, 2005, he officially launched the Open Society Initiative for East Africa (OSIEA), with headquarters in Nairobi and a budget of $1.1 million. An overriding goal of the new East African initiative was “to promote public participation in democratic governance” and to “promote conditions for a free, fair and nonviolent general election in Kenya in 2007,” according to official announcements.

If indeed Soros wished to ensure a “free, fair and nonviolent” election for Kenya in 2007, he chose a curious way of going about it. Soros began by mobilizing youth groups for political action and established what he called “independent media.”

His Youth Wake Up! campaign lured thousands of young people to all-day music events, which doubled as recruiting venues. Through the Youth Wake Up! program, Kenyan youth were instructed in “nonviolent political activism.” At the same time, Soros funded a youth radio station called Koch FM in Korogocho, “one of Nairobi’s largest and most violent slums,” as it was described in OSI’s 2005 annual report. Koch FM intermingled music broadcasts with coaching on techniques of “political participation.” The station’s signal was expected to reach over a million Nairobi slum dwellers. As it happened, Nairobi slums, including Korogocho, became epicenters of post-election violence in December 2007, as protesters battled riot police in the streets.

The election of December 27, 2007 pitted challenger Raila Odinga against sitting president Mwai Kibaki. Odinga led the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), which was reportedly named after Victor Yushchenko’s “Orange Revolution” in the Ukraine. The name is significant, since Yushchenko seized power through mass street demonstrations, after alleging voter fraud. Was Odinga planning a similar move?

In the December 2007 election, voting irregularities were reported on both sides. Kibaki claimed a narrow victory in a questionable vote count and Odinga contested the results. Also contesting Kibaki’s victory was a coalition of Kenyan activist groups which would soon become known as Kenyans for Peace, Truth and Justice (KPTJ). KPTJ activist Shailja Patel later wrote, “Behind the scenes of KPTJ was civil society powerhouse, the Soros-funded Open Society Institute for East Africa.” Patel writes:

“Within hours, they [KPTJ] had released a statement which denounced the credibility of the electoral process and appealed to the international community not to recognize Kibaki as president. The [KPTJ] direct action team would meet daily, defying the government ban on public assembly, providing a public forum for Kenyans across all sectors and ethnicities to channel their outrage into activism.”

Unfortunately, many Kenyans chose to “channel their outrage” into horrific acts of violence. Documents filed by the International Criminal Court (ICC) note that, “the attacks against the civilian population in Kenya were both widespread and systematic,” and were allegedly conducted “by members of organized groups associated with the main political parties” including Kibaki’s PNU party and Odinga’s ODM party. ICC documents state that, “Political leaders allegedly recruited gangs of youths and transported them to strategic points to unleash terror, killing and destroying property belonging to [ethnic] communities aligned to the rival party.” In a two-month period, an estimated 1,133 people were killed, and 3,561 injured. Hundreds of women were raped and hundreds of people tortured. About 350,000 were driven from their homes.

The Soros-funded KPTJ denies any responsibility for the violence. Still, the violence helped their cause. The election was overturned. International arbitrators negotiated a peace deal in which Odinga now shares power with Kibaki. Once more, a team of Soros-funded activists managed to stop an election in its tracks. Once more, Soros altered a country’s destiny. But this time, the price was high. Whether intentionally or not, Soros’ Kenya operation cost many lives.

Legalization of Marijuana

Soros claims that marijuana should be decriminalized and sold like tobacco and other illicit drugs should be available under government decree.

He claims that will stop criminal involvement in the drug industry and that governments will reap the tax windfall.

This is the campaign Soros is waging world-wide, having poured millions into a failed attempt to legalize marijuana in California - the so-called Proposition 19, which was sensibly rejected by voters.[21]

In 1998, Soros was also a signatory to a public letter addressed to United Nations Secretary General Kofi Annan, declaring that "the global war on drugs is now causing more harm than drug abuse itself." The letter blamed the war on drugs for impeding such public health efforts as stemming the spread of HIV, hepatitis and other infectious diseases, as well as human rights violations and the perpetration of environmental assaults. Other notable signers included Peter Lewis, Tammy Baldwin, Rev. William Sloan Coffin, Jr., Walter Cronkite, Morton Halperin, Kweisi Mfume and Cornel West.[8]

Mark Dayton

A fundraiser in New York City was scheduled to be held on Dec. 13th, 2010 at the home of George Soros for Democrat Mark Dayton's bid to win the recount and become Governor of the state of Minnesota.[22] President Bill Clinton was scheduled to headline the fundraiser.

Dayton also said he's is trying to schedule a fundraiser for December 15th, 2010 that will be hosted by Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, Sen. Amy Klobuchar and others. Dayton says that fundraiser will go to his campaign. Dayton has raised more than $1,000,000 so far for the recount. Secretary of State Mark Ritchie, a non-party friend of the Communist Party USA, has been instrumental in assisting Dayton in his recount efforts.

Update: On Dec. 8, 2010, Mark Dayton was pronounced Governor of Minnesota after his Republican opponent conceded due to being down in the count 10,000 votes.

Mark Ritchie

Among Mark Ritchie's supporters in 2006 for Minnesota's Secretary of State position was Mark Hertsgaard, an Institute for Policy Studies affiliate, now a Fellow with George Soros' Open Society Institute.[23] Also supporting Ritchie was Jonathan Soros, George Soros' son and Jonathan's wife, Jennifer Soros. Ritchie is listed as a non-party friend of the Communist Party USA and is a Democrat. Ritchie was part of the Secretary of State Project funded by George Soros.

Ritchie was also instrumental in getting Al Franken elected as Senator in Minnesota - he oversaw the recount effort that went in favor of Franken. He now is overseeing a recount effort for Mark Dayton who is running for Governor in Minnesota.

Merit Selection

Most non-federal judges around the country are selected by voters in elections. But some states use a process called “Merit Selection” in which a committee – often made up of lawyers – appoints judges to the bench instead.[24]

Soros has spent several million dollars in the past decade in an attempt to get more states to scrap elections and adopt the merit method. Supporters say it would allow judges to focus on interpreting the law rather than on raising campaign funds and winning elections. It is widely believed that Soros is trying to stack American courts with Progressives in order to control and influence the judiciary.

Critics claim that if judges are picked by committee, that will give left-wing judges the upper hand.

Attorney Colleen Pero’s report titled "Hijacking Justice," found that Soros, through his Open Society Institute fund, has given $45 million over the last decade to “a campaign to reshape the judiciary.” But that number is hotly contested by Justice at Stake, the group that received the most Soros money.

In an analysis of the Open Society Institute's tax returns from the last ten years, FoxNews.com found more than $5 million was explicitly earmarked for projects about either "merit selection" or "judicial selection."
For example, OSI reported giving $90,000 to Pennsylvanians for Modern Courts in 2007 to "expand and grow a coalition in support of merit selection." It also reported giving $50,000 to Justice at Stake in 2006 to support "public education regarding merit selection."
OSI gave another $7 million-plus to Justice at Stake, or to partner organizations with specific directions to support JAS's activities.

"Merit Selection" would require a change to the Constitution.

Military vs. Police Actions

Soros has always been against America's military forays and our foreign policies in general. He has repeatedly accused America of being a conquering force reminiscent of Rome. He also claims that the War on Terror is nothing more than political theater. In August 2006, he wrote a Wall Street Journal piece entitled "A Self-Defeating War," claiming that "the war on terror is a false metaphor that has led to counterproductive and self-defeating policies." "Five years after 9/11," Soros concluded, "a misleading figure of speech applied literally has unleashed a real war fought on several fronts - Iraq, Gaza, Lebanon, Afghanistan, Somalia - a war that has killed thousands of innocent civilians and enraged millions around the world. Yet al Qaeda has not been subdued."

"[T]errorism is an abstraction. It lumps together all political movements that use terrorist tactics. Al Qaeda, Hamas, Hezbollah, the Sunni insurrection and the Mahdi army in Iraq are very different forces, but President Bush's global war on terror prevents us from differentiating between them and dealing with them accordingly. It inhibits much-needed negotiations with Iran and Syria because they are states that support terrorist groups.... The war on terror emphasizes military action while most territorial conflicts require political solutions.... [It] drives a wedge between 'us' and 'them.' We are [supposedly] innocent victims. They are [supposedly] perpetrators. But we fail to notice that we also become perpetrators in the process; the rest of the world, however, does notice. That is how such a wide gap has arisen between America and much of the world. Taken together, these ... factors ensure that the war on terror cannot be won. An endless war waged against an unseen enemy is doing great damage to our power and prestige abroad and to our open society at home."

Soros is sponsoring the National Conference for Media Reform. Individuals will network, strategize, learn and share with 2,500 committed media reformers. It is billed as a one-of-a-kind weekend of parties, films and movement-building at NCMR 2011 in Boston.

The National Conference for Media Reform is the biggest and most in-depth conference of its kind devoted to media, technology and democracy. Thousands of activists, media makers, educators, journalists, policymakers and people from across the country will attend the event in Boston for the fifth NCMR on April 8-10, 2011.

They will explore the future of journalism and public media, consider how technology is changing the world, look at the policies and politics shaping our media and discuss strategies to build the movement for better media as conceived by George Soros and the progressive left.[25]

Net Neutrality

“After McCain-Feingold passed, several of the foundations involved in the effort began shifting their attention to “media reform” — a movement to impose government controls on Internet companies somewhat related to the long-defunct “Fairness Doctrine” that used to regulate TV and radio companies,” writes the WSJ’s John Fund. Those outfits are Pew Charitable Trusts, Bill Moyers’ Schumann Center for Media and Democracy, the Joyce Foundation, George Soros’ Open Society Institute, the Ford Foundation and the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation, all of which have given money to left-wing progressive media outlet Free Press. As a result of Free Press’ close ties to staffers for FCC Chairman Julius Genachowski, net neutrality crusaders gamed the debate from the beginning: “Some of the same foundations that have spent years funding Net Neutrality advocacy research ended up funding the FCC-commissioned study that evaluated Net Neutrality research.”[26]

The Net Neutrality vision for government regulation of the Internet began with the work of Robert McChesney, a University of Illinois communications professor who founded the liberal lobby Free Press in 2002. Mr. McChesney's agenda? "At the moment, the battle over Network Neutrality is not to completely eliminate the telephone and cable companies," he told the website Socialist Project in 2009. "But the ultimate goal is to get rid of the media capitalists in the phone and cable companies and to divest them from control."
A year earlier, Mr. McChesney wrote in the Marxist journal Monthly Review that "any serious effort to reform the media system would have to necessarily be part of a revolutionary program to overthrow the capitalist system itself." Mr. McChesney told me in an interview that some of his comments have been "taken out of context." He acknowledged that he is a socialist and said he was "hesitant to say I'm not a Marxist."
For a man with such radical views, Mr. McChesney and his Free Press group have had astonishing influence. Mr. Genachowski's press secretary at the FCC, Jen Howard, used to handle media relations at Free Press. The FCC's chief diversity officer, Mark Lloyd, co-authored a Free Press report calling for regulation of political talk radio.

George Soros-linked Free Press also produced a video, seemingly explaining the difference between “real” and “fake” net neutrality. Soros is a huge proponent of Net Neutrality and has been behind a great deal of the funding of the movement as well as crafting the message to the public on it. Google has partnered with him in the effort.[28]

New World Order/Globalization

George Soros Openly Discusses the coming New World Order, Jan. 1, 2011

George Soros has called for the same solution:
[We] really need to bring China into the creation of a new world order, financial world order. They are kind of reluctant members of the IMF. They play along. But they don’t make much of a contribution because it is not their… institution.
I think you need a new world order: China has to be a part of the process of creating it and they have to buy in. They have to own it. (Emphasis added).

Soros believes that the New World Order is well under way and that the G20 is helping it along. He says that the “special drawing rights do give you the makings of a system.” Special drawing rights, “SDRs,” are a form of currency issued by the IMF. Their valuations are based on a market basket of fiat currencies from countries now famous for profligate outlays and dampened production: the Japanese Yen, British pound, the Euro, and U.S. dollar.

Soros believes the world “can create… an international currency through special drawing rights.” But what would make China and the United States buy in?

The answer is a decline in the value of the dollar.

Soros has stated that an “orderly decline” of the dollar is necessary to bring about a New World Order.[29]

Soros has long been calling for increased globalization. In "The Crisis of Global Capitalism," published in 1998, he writes:

To stabilize and regulate a truly global economy, we need some global system of political decision-making. In short, we need a global society to support our global economy. A global society does not mean a global state. To abolish the existence of states is neither feasible nor desirable; but insofar as there are collective interests that transcend state boundaries, the sovereignty of states must be subordinated to international law and international institutions. Interestingly, the greatest opposition to this idea is coming from the United States. But there has never been a time when a strong lead from the U.S. and other like-minded countries could achieve such powerful and benign results. With the right sense of leadership and with clarity of purpose, the U.S. and its allies could help to stabilize the global economic system and to extend and uphold universal human values. The opportunity is waiting to be grasped.[30]

He has called for greater authority for institutions such as the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and for an International Credit Insurance Corp. to establish some kind of supervision over national supervisory authorities and stated, "At the same time, there remains the urgent need for Congress to authorize an increase in the capital of the IMF." He admitted that such "radical ideas" could not even be considered until Congress "changes its attitude toward international institutions in general and the IMF in particular."[31]

Soros has also said that the United States would cease to be the world's undisputed dominant force. "The veto power that we have in the International Monetary Fund will disappear. We will be downsized. At the same time, hopefully, we will have a better working system and opponents will be more downsized than we will."[32]

The Bubble of American Supremacy: The disparity between private goods and public goods manifests itself in a number of ways. First, there is a growing inequality between rich and poor, both within countries and among countries. Admittedly, globalization is not a zero-sum game: its benefits exceed the costs in the sense that the increased wealth produced by globalization could be used to make up for the inequities and other shortcomings of globalization and there would still be some extra wealth left over.
The trouble is that the winners do not compensate the losers either within states or between states. The welfare state as we know it has become unsustainable and international income redistribution is practically nonexistent. Total international assistance amounted to $US56.5 billion ($74.4 billion) in 2002. This amount represents only 0.18 per cent of global GDP. As a result, the gap between the rich and the poor continues to grow.[33]

Nuclear Weapons

In 2000, Soros was a signatory to a letter entitled an "Appeal for Responsible Security" that appeared in the New York Times. "We call upon the United States government," said the letter, "to commit itself unequivocally to negotiate the worldwide reduction and elimination of nuclear weapons, in a series of well-defined stages accompanied by increasing verification and control." Other signers included Jimmy Carter, Martin Sheen, Marian Wright Edelman, John Sweeney and Ted Turner.[8]

President Barack Obama

Soros' ties to Obama date back to 2004, when the multi-billionaire hosted a fundraiser for Obama during the latter's 2004 campaign for the U.S. Senate. In December of 2006, as Obama contemplated making a run for the presidency in 2008, Soros met in his New York office with the Illinois senator. Then, on January 16, 2007, Obama announced the creation of a presidential exploratory committee. Within hours, Soros sent the senator a contribution of $2,100, the maximum amount allowable under campaign finance laws. Later that week, the New York Daily News reported that Soros would back Obama over the Democrat he had previously favored for the presidency, Hillary Clinton. Soros averred, however, that he would support Mrs. Clinton if she (rather than Obama) were ultimately to win the Democratic Party's nomination.
In 2008, Obama announced that upon his election to the office of President, he would create a "Social Investment Fund Network," which would provide federal money to "social entrepreneurs and leading nonprofit organizations [that] are assisting schools, lifting families out of poverty, filling health care gaps and inspiring others to lead change in their own communities." According to columnist Michelle Malkin, "this Barack Obama brainchild would serve as a permanent, taxpayer-backed pipeline to Democratic partisan outfits masquerading as public-interest do-gooders," and would serve as a "George Soros Slush Fund" by continuing to bolster numerous Soros-founded and funded organizations.

Soros and his family contributed $250,000 towards Obama's inauguration, $60,000 in direct campaign contributions and untold millions more to liberal activist groups pushing the White House agenda.[34]

On Nov. 17, 2010, during a private session on the sidelines of a conference of major Democratic donors organized by the Democracy Alliance, Soros reiterated his position that wealthy liberals should focus their giving on groups that will push President Barack Obama and congressional Democrats on liberal legislative initiatives, rather than groups supporting individual candidates, according to a source in the meeting.[35]

According to multiple Democratic sources with knowledge of his remarks, Soros told those in attendance that he is "used to fighting losing battles but doesn't like to lose without fighting," stating:

"We have just lost this election, we need to draw a line. And if this president can't do what we need, it is time to start looking somewhere else."

Michael Vachon, an adviser to Soros, did not dispute the comment.[36]

President George W. Bush

According to Bloomberg News, September 28, 2002, George Soros said that "the final straw came on June 1, 2002, when U.S. President George W. Bush stepped before 989 graduating officers at the U.S. Military Academy in West Point, New York and changed American foreign policy. The U.S., the President said, would now take offensive military action against any country that it suspected of posing a terrorist threat, a strategy later dubbed the Bush Doctrine."

Soros said the Bush administration "violated human rights and damaged American security by invading Iraq and deposing the regime of Saddam Hussein. 'The idea that we can impose our will on the world is really just the wrong idea,'" he said, vowing "to do everything in his power to prevent Bush from winning re-election.

He "joined forces with Democratic Party allies in organized labor, the environmental movement and women's groups and in July 2003, Soros kick-started a network of nonprofit political organizations with an $18.5 million contribution."

According to Byron Wien, senior investment strategist at Morgan Stanley and a close Soros friend, "George was violent on this before a Democratic candidate was even chosen, ... It was anybody but Bush."[37]

Profoundly contemptuous of Bush, Soros blamed the President not only for many of the ills that plagued the United States, but for a host of problems afflicting other nations as well. Speaking at a conference of the Jewish Funders Network in November 2003, Soros said:

"There is a resurgence of anti-Semitism in Europe. The policies of the Bush administration and the [Israeli prime minister Ariel] Sharon administration contribute to that.... I'm critical of those policies.... If we change that direction, then anti-Semitism also will diminish."

Asserting that America needed "a regime change" to oust Bush, Soros declared that derailing the President's reelection bid in 2004 "is the central focus of my life... a matter of life and death." "America under Bush," he said, "is a danger to the world, and I'm willing to put my money where my mouth is."[18] According to the Center for Responsive Politics, during the 2003-2004 election cycle, Soros donated $23,581,000 to various 527 groups dedicated to defeating President Bush.

Claiming that "the Republican Party has been captured by a bunch of extremists," Soros accused the Bush administration of following a "supremacist ideology" in whose rhetoric he claimed to hear echoes from his childhood in occupied Hungary. "When I hear Bush say, 'You're either with us or against us,'" Soros explained, "it reminds me of the Germans. It conjures up memories of Nazi slogans on the walls, Der Feind Hort mit (The enemy is listening). My experiences under Nazi and Soviet rule have sensitized me."
Soros likened Republicans generally, and the Bush administration in particular, to "the Nazi and communist regimes" in the sense that they are "all engaged in the politics of fear." "Indeed," he wrote in 2006, "the Bush administration has been able to improve on the techniques used by the Nazi and Communist propaganda machines by drawing on the innovations of the advertising and marketing industries." Soros would elaborate on this theme at the January 2007 World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, where he told reporters: "America needs to ... go through a certain de-Nazification process."
In 2004 Soros spent some $26 million of his own money in an effort to drive Bush from office. That sum included a $5 million donation to MoveOn.org, a $10 million grant to a Democratic Party 2004 get-out-the-vote initiative called America Coming Together, and $3 million to the Center for American Progress (CAP), a think-tank headed by former Clinton chief-of-staff John Podesta. (Soros himself was instrumental in establishing CAP in 2003 as "a nonpartisan research and educational institute" aimed at "developing a long-term vision of a progressive America.")

Funny how Soros accuses the right of doing exactly what the progressive left is doing...

Religious Issues

Catholic Groups

One major purpose of Soros' funding of progressive Catholic groups is to legitimize abortion - to make it more socially acceptable and palatable. This then opens the door for eugenics and the management of population control.[38] While appearing to fund Catholic groups and support them, what Soros supports are radical causes such as drug legalization, the rights of “sex workers” and felons, euthanasia, radical feminism, abortion rights and homosexual rights. He does all of this in the name of promoting an “open society.” His agenda is in direct conflict with the teachings of the Catholic Church.

The two issues of health care and illegal immigration that Soros promotes, merge in the fact that the Catholic Bishops are demanding that national health care legislation cover illegal aliens.

Second Amendment

Over the last decade, Soros has used his fortune to become a preeminent funding source for global gun control. Directly and through his organization Open Society Institute (OSI), he has funneled cash to various anti-gun groups, such as the Tides Foundation, the HELP Network and SAFE Colorado. He and seven wealthy associates founded their own political committee - Campaign for a Progressive Future - and spent $2 million on political activities in 2000, including providing the prime financial backing for the Million Mom March. OSI has supported UN efforts to create international gun control regulations and has singled out the United States for failing to go along with the international gun-prohibitionists.

Soros has worked to combine with other wealthy activists and foundations to provide funding for numerous anti-gun projects. Soros and the Irene Diamond Foundation made equal $5 million contributions to form the Funders` Collaborative for Gun Violence Prevention. This organization has provided funding to the anti-gun Harvard Injury Control Center and has helped bankroll reckless lawsuits designed to cripple the firearms industry. OSI and the Funders` Collaborative (using money largely supplied by Soros) was the primary funding source for the plaintiffs in Hamilton v. Accu-tek and in NAACP v. ACUSPORT Inc. OSI provided $300,000 to the plaintiffs` lawyers in the Hamilton case and provided a grant identified as between $100,000 and $499,000 in the NAACP case.

When Soros and OSI decided to start spending great sums of money on anti-gun research and advocacy, they went in search of an experienced activist to guide the effort. Soros came up with Rebecca Peters, a central figure in disarming the people of Australia and a leader in the effort to ban all handguns and most long guns. Under Peters` direction, OSI soon released "Gun Control in The United States." This strikingly simplistic evaluation of gun laws in the 50 states purposefully ignored federal firearms laws and arbitrarily awarded various point values to each state that has imposed gun control restrictions favored by the group.

Such restrictions include, for example, compact handgun prohibitions, gun registration and gun owner licensing, various gun sale regulations and gun storage requirements. States that do not allow local jurisdictions to impose gun laws more restrictive than state law, are penalized in the Society`s point system. States that prohibit the filing of junk lawsuits against the firearm industry are also penalized, as are states that do not duplicate the federal age requirement for possessing a handgun.[39]

Secretary of State Project

The Secretary of State Project is a program to raise funds to help elect progressive and Democrat Secretary of State candidates to office in targeted states across America. According to the founders of the Secretary of State Project, this project was started by concerned citizens and activists to develop a user friendly online vehicle to solicit donations for key Secretary of State races across the United States. George Soros backed the Secretary of State Project (SOS) through the Democracy Alliance. SOS was founded to make sure that liberals and progressives, instead of conservatives, oversee key elections (which includes recounts).

George Soros is a major donor/funder for the Secretary of State Project.

Matthew Vadum of The American Spectator:

“A group backed by Soros is gearing up to steal the 2012 election for President Obama and congressional Democrats by installing left-wing Democrats as secretaries of state across the nation,” he writes in 2009. “From such posts, secretaries of state can help tilt the electoral playing field.”[40]

Investor's Business Daily:

“It’s been said the hand that rocks the cradle controls the future,” the editors at Investor’s Business Daily wrote last month in agreement. “SOS was founded on the belief that the hand that runs the election machinery controls our democracy.”[40]

Joseph Stalin would agree:

“The people who cast the votes decide nothing. The people who count the votes decide everything.”

SOS was instrumental in, and for all purposes behind, the win in Minnesota of Mark Ritchie as Secretary of State and Al Franken's dubious recount Senate seat win as well. They were also behind the recent win of Minnesota Governor Mark Dayton. All are strongly supported by Soros. Ritchie, you’ll remember, was exposed by Trevor Loudon as a “friend” of the Communist Party in one of its not-for-publication letters.

SOS leadership reads like a who’s who of liberal and progressive titans. The website lists the following people as its founders and leaders:

  • Laura Packard most recently worked as the New Media Director for the Bill Halter for U.S. Senate campaign and has worked and consulted for many campaigns and organizations around the country. She also served as an election worker in the city of Ann Arbor for several years. She also used to work for the AFL-CIO in Arkansas.

Shadow Party

Soros was the creator of the so-called "Shadow Party" in 2003. This term refers to a nationwide network of unions, non-profit activist groups and think tanks whose agendas lean ideologically to the left and which are engaged in campaigning for the Democrats. This network's activities include fund raising, get-out-the-vote drives, political advertising, opposition research and media manipulation.[18]

According to Richard Poe, co-author (with David Horowitz) of the book The Shadow Party:

"The Shadow Party is the real power driving the Democrat machine. It is a network of radicals dedicated to transforming our constitutional republic into a socialist hive. The leader of these radicals is ... George Soros. He has essentially privatized the Democratic Party, bringing it under his personal control. The Shadow Party is the instrument through which he exerts that control.... It works by siphoning off hundreds of millions of dollars in campaign contributions that would have gone to the Democratic Party in normal times, and putting those contributions at the personal disposal of Mr. Soros. He then uses that money to buy influence and loyalty where he sees fit. In 2003, Soros set up a network of privately-owned groups which acts as a shadow or mirror image of the Party. It performs all the functions we would normally expect the real Democratic Party to perform, such as shaping the Party platform, fielding candidates, running campaigns and so forth. However, it performs these functions under the private supervision of Mr. Soros and his associates. The Shadow Party derives its power from its ability to raise huge sums of money. By controlling the Democrat purse strings, the Shadow Party can make or break any Democrat candidate by deciding whether or not to fund him. During the 2004 election cycle, the Shadow Party raised more than $300 million for Democrat candidates, prompting one of its operatives, MoveOn PAC director Eli Pariser, to declare, 'Now it's our party. We bought it, we own it.…'"

In a November 11, 2003 interview with Laura Blumenfeld of the Washington Post, Soros described how he had jump-started the Shadow Party during the summer of 2002 by summoning a team of political strategists, activists and Democrat donors to his Southampton beach house in Long Island. The attendees included: Morton Halperin (Director of Soros' Open Society Institute); John Podesta (Democrat strategist and former Bill Clinton chief of staff); Jeremy Rosner (Democrat strategist and pollster, and ex-foreign policy speechwriter for Bill Clinton); Robert Boorstin (Democrat strategist and pollster); Carl Pope (America Coming Together co-founder, Democrat strategist and Sierra Club Executive Director); Steve Rosenthal (Labor leader, CEO of America Coming Together and former advisor to Clinton Labor Secretary Robert Reich); Peter Lewis (major Democrat donor and insurance entrepreneur); Rob Glaser (major Democrat donor and Silicon Valley pioneer); Ellen Malcolm (co-founder and President of America Coming Together and founder of Emily's List); Rob McKay (major Democrat donor); Lewis Cullman and Dorothy Cullman (major Democrat donors).

When Soros targets a country for "regime change," he begins by creating a shadow government in-exile, ready to assume power when the opportunity arises. The Shadow Party he has built in America greatly resembles those he has created in other countries prior to instigating a coup.

Though Soros and his Shadow Party failed to bring about "regime change" in 2004, the vast network of interrelated Shadow Party groups would prove to be key players in the 2006 midterm elections that saw Democrats seize control of Congress. Of particular significance was Democracy Alliance, a non-tax-exempt nonprofit entity registered in the District of Columbia, which Soros had founded in 2005, and whose long-term objective was to develop a funding clearinghouse for leftist groups.
In 2008, Soros' Shadow Party was again a major force in the movement that not only expanded the Democratic Party's congressional majorities, but also delivered the presidency to Barack Obama.

Social Justice

George Soros' Open Society Institute has also apparently been providing funds to subsidize a "parallel left" section of the prisoner solidarity movement. Critical Resistance, the Prison Moratorium Project, the Ella Baker Center for Human Rights and The Sentencing Project are all being funded by George Soros' Open Society Institute.[41]

In December of 2010, Charles Manson was caught with a cell phone in prison. The Manson Family became famous for murdering numerous individuals in a horrific number of killings culminating in the atrocity visited on a pregnant Sharon Tate. Both her and her baby were slaughtered and the Manson clan stuck a fork in her stomach to make a political, murderous point of their insane rampage. The smuggling of the cell phone to Manson happened at the same time that a number of Georgia prisoners utilized contraband cell phones to stage protests which mostly involved not leaving their cells or performing any mandated labor assigned to them. It is widely believed in the U.S. that this is the beginning of a movement in prisons that is sure to turn much more violent as prisoners identify with "The New Jim Crow" movement where they demand more healthcare, better educational opportunities and higher pay. This has garnered the attention and support of progressives who are funding and supporting this movement for the Marxist/progressive agenda. Support would include a former Barack Obama official and Van Jones.

Van Jones joined Noam Chomsky and Professor Michelle Alexander as well as others in signing a “statement of solidarity” with the prisoners. The “statement of solidarity” declared that “mass incarceration is the new Jim Crow,” adding, “Like the old Jim Crow, this system serves to perpetuate institutionalized racism, economic inequality and political disenfranchisement.” In other words, the criminals who prey on society are now the victims.

Michelle Alexander wrote "The New Jim Crow" and she is a former ACLU official who won a 2005 “Soros Justice Fellowship.” One of the pillars of this new movement is that convicted felons ought to have the right to vote. George Soros has provided the bulk of the money behind a well-organized “criminals lobby” in the U.S. that is working to make “prisoners’ rights” into the next big cause of the liberal-left. The prison “strike” in Georgia is evidence that the campaign has entered a new and dangerous phase. The acknowledgments section of the Alexander book gives special thanks to the Open Society Institute, funded by Soros.

The primary name on the “Statement of Solidarity” with the prisoners in Georgia is the Center for Constitutional Rights (CCR), which usually defends accused Islamic terrorists. It is an off-shoot of the National Lawyers Guild, which was once officially designated a communist front and still remains the American affiliate of the International Association of Democratic Lawyers, the old Soviet front.

“Revolt on the Inside, Revolt on the Outside” is now the cry of radical outside agitators for prisoners.

The spokesperson for the Georgia criminals was Elaine Brown, former chair of the violent Black Panther Party. The criminal “demands” of the Georgia inmates were echoed by such outlets as The Final Call, the newspaper of the Nation of Islam and Amy Goodman’s “Democracy Now!” radio/TV show. Goodman is the recipient of a journalism award named after left-wing journalist and identified Soviet agent I. F. Stone.[42]

Stimulus/Fiscal Policy

In a November 2008 interview with Spiegel, Soros made almost prophetic statements that accurately predicted the course that President Obama's administration would eventually pursue in 2009:

"I think we need a large stimulus package which will provide funds for state and local government to maintain their budgets -- because they are not allowed by the constitution to run a deficit. For such a program to be successful, the federal government would need to provide hundreds of billions of dollars. In addition, another infrastructure program is necessary. In total, the cost would be in the 300 to 600 billion dollar range [in addition to the $700 billion bailout which the government already had given to the financial industry]... I think this is a great opportunity to finally deal with global warming and energy dependence. The U.S. needs a cap and trade system with auctioning of licenses for emissions rights. I would use the revenues from these auctions to launch a new, environmentally friendly energy policy. That would be yet another federal program that could help us to overcome the current stagnation."

The interviewer then stated: "Your proposal would be dismissed on Wall Street as 'big government.' Republicans might call it European-style 'socialism.'" Soros replied:

"That is exactly what we need now. I am against market fundamentalism. I think this propaganda that government involvement is always bad has been very successful -- but also very harmful to our society... I think it is better to have a government that wants to provide good government than a government that doesn't believe in government... At times of recession, running a budget deficit is highly desirable. Once the economy begins to recover, you have to balance the budget. In 2010, the Bush tax cuts will expire and we should not extend them. But we will also need additional revenues."[18]

Soros has recently (Oct. of 2010) called for an orderly decline of the dollar. This fits in with his open society plan for a one world governance with the UN at the helm. He knows that the continued devaluation of the dollar will heighten calls for an alternative international currency to replace the dollar as the world’s reserve currency – an outcome that Soros also strongly supports. When that happens, demand for the dollar will plummet, killing the US economy.[43]

Soros then foresees a transfer of economic and political power from the United States and other Western democracies to emerging economies, particularly China which he is heavily invested in. From Soros:

Today China has not only a more vigorous economy, but actually a better functioning government than the United States.

Soros admires communism and particularly the government of China. He urges China to have a more open society in his world view. Certainly, Soros’ efforts to suppress media voices opposed to his notion of re-distributionist social justice would find a welcome home in China.

The Blaze has a video on Soros' influence and funding of the USA's financial reform ‘revolution.’ It contains clips on how Soros' and his minions were instrumental in bringing down the US economy under the guise of stimulus and financial aid utilizing the regulatory process.

Tea Party

Soros said in an interview on Feb. 20th, that Tea Party activists are being "used and deceived." From The Hill:

"I think the people in the Tea Party are very decent people, hard-working," he said. "They have been hit by a force that comes from somewhere which they can't fully understand. And they are being misled.
"And they are misled by people who are using it for their selfish purposes, namely to remove regulations and reduce taxation," he continued. "So reduce taxation and regulation. And they are being used and deceived."

WikiLeaks

Glenn Beck on WikiLeaks, Nov. 29, 2010

The informant for WikiLeaks is 22-year old intelligence analyst Bradley Manning. Manning’s attorney is Mark Stevens, who also does pro-bono work for George Soros and the Open Society Institute.

Additionally, Assange negotiated with George Soros’ Open Society Institute for funding for WikiLeaks.

WikiLeaks also wrote an award-winning report called The City of Blood, published by Soros’ Kenya National Commission of Human Rights.

Glenn Beck notes, “WikiLeaks once listed a Soros-connected Chinese human rights leader as one of its advisors. They have since scrubbed the website. Too bad for WikiLeaks and George Soros and everybody else, that we have watchdogs that printed everything before it was scrubbed from the web.”

It’s important to note that Soros has long called for the implementation of a new world order, and has a history of taking down government regimes by adhering to a specific plan that relies heavily upon Van Jones theory of “Top Down, Bottom up and Inside Out”: 1. Create a Shadow Government (Top Down); 2. Control the Airwaves (Top Down); 3. Destabilize the State (Bottom Up); 4. Provoke an Election Crisis (Bottom Up); and 5. Respond to the People’s Call for Help and Take Power (Inside Out).

The Open Society Foundation in August announced that they will not take a position on the WikiLeaks documents except that it opposes all disclosures about identifiable citizens that would put them at risk.

However, the intended anarchy and chaos created by the WikiLeaks exposures seems to fall right in line with step 3 of Soros’ plan — destabilize the state (create anti-government sentiment.)[44]

There is no direct connection to George Soros. But there are numerous connections to those connected to Soros and to his foundations. Soros is a master at concealment and it is all but certain he is at the very least partially behind the WikiLeaks scandal.
