Ansara brings with her to AmeriCorps VISTA a passion to ensure everyone has the opportunity to succeed in life. She grew up in a family of organizers and teachers and has served as an advisor to several foundations, advocacy and direct service organizations committed to improving education. She previously served in a variety of roles at Stand for Children and was the CEO and a founding partner of 270 Strategies. At 270, she founded and led the company’s education practice, advising public school districts, charter management organizations, foundations, direct service and advocacy organizations.
Ansara also brings extensive experience in leading public engagement and advocacy strategies. She has worked on senate and gubernatorial campaigns, served as the co-founder and senior advisor for Organizing Corps 2020, a national regional director for the 2012 Obama for America campaign, and more. She was even a forest firefighter, named to one of Oregon’s elite “hotshot” teams. Meg earned a B.A. in history and African studies from Oberlin College (Ohio).

Meg Ansara is CEO and a Founding Partner at 270 Strategies who served most recently as the Battleground States Director for Hillary for America. She was previously National Regional Director for the 2012 Obama for America campaign, where she oversaw the grassroots and public engagement programs in the Midwest and southern states.
Since the company's inception, Meg has supported clients both in the United States and abroad, drawing on her expertise in campaign design and strategy, education, and organization building, including clients such as the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, The College Board, DC Public Schools, Teach for America, the DCCC, the New Democratic Party of Canada, Partners in Health, and United We Dream. She’s worked with political campaigns and party committees at the national and local level to provide strategic guidance and best practices.
Meg grew up in a family of organizers and teachers, and brings her passion for education reform to 270. She serves as an advisor to a number of foundations, advocacy and direct service organizations committed to improving public schools and ensuring all children have the opportunity to succeed in college and in life.
Over nine years at Stand for Children — a multi-state organization committed to improving public education — Meg served as Chief of State Operations, Chief Operating Officer, National Organizing Director, and Massachusetts State Director. She helped scale the organization from a $3 million annual budget to more than $18 million, and secured funding for the Washington State, Arizona, and Indiana affiliates. In 2010, she worked with Governor Phil Bredesen in Tennessee to build grassroots support for “First to the Top,” a package of state legislative reforms focused on improving outcomes for students and closing the achievement gap. These reforms paved the way for Tennessee to become one of the two first-ever winners of the federal Race to the Top grant program.
Meg worked on the final campaign of Senator Paul Wellstone in 2002 and the Massachusetts gubernatorial campaign of Robert Reich. She also partnered with Jeremy Bird as a national trainer for staff at the Democratic National Committee in 2004.
Meg is a Boston native and graduate of Oberlin College, where she earned a B.A. in History and African Studies. She worked as a forest firefighter for several years as an undergraduate student and after college, and was named to one of Oregon's elite "hotshot" teams. She has a home in the Capitol Hill neighborhood of Washington, DC with her husband Joel Gagne.
