Help DSA Elect More Socialists to LA’s 99 Neighborhood Councils! - Los Angeles has a system of 99 neighborhood councils comprised of unpaid volunteer elected officials who represent their neighborhoods to the city council.

In 2021 the Democratic Socialists of America members listed below are running for neighborhood council seats on slates across LA and have pledged to fight for our democratically-decided socialist values.

Infiltrating the Dems

Help DSA-LA Take Over ADEMS!

Every two years, California Democrats elect delegates from across the state, who then convene along with appointed party officials at the party’s Assembly District Election Meeting (ADEMS). ADEMS determines what the party stands for, making this a significant opportunity for socialists to push the California Democratic Party to the left and away from the interests of union busters, the landlord lobby, fossil fuel polluters, the corporate hospital and pharmaceutical lobby, the prison industrial complex, the corporate donor class, and others that stand against our values.

Our members are running for ADEMS delegate seats so that we’re in the room when the Democratic Party sets its agenda and makes decisions on endorsing candidates for public office. We’re fighting for issues that matter to the working class in California, like Medicare for All, Green New Deal, and Defunding the Police.

The DSA members listed below (in alphabetical order by first name) are running for ADEMS delegate seats on slates across LA County and have pledged to fight for our democratically-decided socialist values.

Standing for AD 53

In 2019 Angie Brown stood from AD 53 for the California Democratic Party Central Committee.

Angie is a documentary film producer. As a 30+ year resident of the district it is time Angie gives back to all the wonderful neighbors who have made the district so vibrant and exciting. In her career as a TV producer she has been to 45 states and knows how lucky we are to be Californians. There are many challenges ahead and she want to help make the kind of changes our district needs and preserve what works. Healthcare, strong public schools, housing and living wages are issues that are at the top of her list. Many of the tax payers in the 53rd are immigrants and cannot vote, their concerns are her concerns. She is running to be an Assembly Delegate so the issues her neighbors care about have an advocate and a positive conduit for their voices to be heard, in the city, county, state and country. She is proud our California has a strong economy and strong forward thinking leaders. Being elected as an Assembly Delegate would be an important way she can give back while making sure we don’t give up the gains we have made leading the nation on so many issues.[1]
