Radical Philosophy Association

The Radical Philosophy Association (RPA) was founded in 1968 (as the Radical Caucus within the American Philosophical Association) and was renamed and formed the Radical Philosophy Association in 1982. It holds alternative sessions and occasional weekend conferences, including a series of conferences on Class, Race and Gender.

RPA has been the principal organizer of an annual conference in Havana since 1990. The conference helps "to try to undermine the U.S. blockade of Cuba."

The RPA publishes the RPA Newsletter. In 1994 the RPA held its first International/National Conference at Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa.[1]

Socialist Scholars Conference

The Radical Philosophy Association sponsored several panels at the Tenth Annual Socialist Scholars Conference, which was held April 24-26, 1992 at the Borough of Manhattan Community College, New York City.[2] The following are panels sponsored by the RPA:

Joseph Walsh, Bob Stone, Ron Aronson and Gail Presbey were speakers on the We Need to Talk about Right and Wrong panel.

Patricia Mann, CUNY, Graduate Center, Ruth Spitz, SUNY, Empire State, Elayne Rapping, Adelphi University and Paula Kamen, Author, Feminist Fatale were speakers on the Whither Feminism: A Trans-Generational Dialogue panel, which the RPA co-sponsored by Social Text and the Democratic Socialists of America.

Alexandr Buzgalin, Richard Greeman and Sam Farber were speakers on the Self management and the Future of the October Revolution panel.

Dion Farquhar and Helen Wintrob - a family therapist were speakers on the Maternity Without Paternity in the Age of Postmodernity: The Politics of Infertility panel.

Len Krimerman, Sharryn Kasmir and Bob Stone were speakers on the The Mondragon Co-ops: Their Political Implications panel.

Clifford DuRand, David Gandolfo and Joy Gordon were speakers on the Cuba and the New World Order panel.

RPA 2009 Conference

RPA Conferences

In 2009, Michael Stulman organized and participated in the Radical Philosophy Association's conference at the University of the Western Cape, South Africa.[3]

Midwest Social Forum

The Radical Philosophy Association helped launch Midwest Radical Scholars & Activists Conference in Chicago on the theme "Challenging the New World Order," 1200 participants in 120 sessions on October 19 through 21, 1990 (23 organized by the RPA).[4]
