🌟We're excited to share the success of the Myanmar People’s Summit 2024, held on March 4th!🌟
Organised by the Myanmar Campaign Network, the National Unity Government Representative to Australia Office, the CRPH/NUG Support Group Australia, the Australian Council for International Development, the Australian Council of Trade Unions, and SEARCH Foundation, the Summit gathered civil society, the Myanmar diaspora, and government representatives in a powerful display of solidarity for democratic civilian rule in Myanmar.
Featuring distinguished speakers such as Mr. Joseph Mitchell, ACTU Assistant Secretary, and His Excellency Kay Rala Xanana Gusmao, Prime Minister of Timor-Leste, Dr Tun Aung Shwe, National Unity Government of Myanmar Representative to Australia, Alison Tate, Director, Economic & Social Policy, International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC), Rev Tim Costello AO, Australian Baptists; Executive Director, Micah, Debbie Stothard, Coordinator, Alternative ASEAN Network on Burma (ALTSEAN Burma), Wai Wai Nu, Founder and Executive Director of the Women Peace Network, Saw Lwin Oo, President, Australian Karen Organisation; Representative CRPH/NUG Support Group Australia Ethnic Advisory Council; and, The National Unity Government of Myanmar Representative to ASEAN (video).
The event provided invaluable insights and endorsements for the National Unity Government (NUG) of Myanmar. We're delighted to share that the Summit concluded with the launch of the Myanmar People’s Summit Statement 2024, endorsed by 339 Australian, Myanmar, regional, and international organisations.
