Many of the actors listed here had no idea that they were raising money for the communist guerrillas in El Salvador, the FMLN. The known supporters of MAES among the actors and actresses were veteran leftists Ed Asner (who apparently came out of the closet as a communist sympathizer later in life; Martin Sheen who has been very active in pro-communist causes especially in Central America; and Mike Farrell MASH who turned out to be a hardcore communist sympathizer when you looked at the list of his affiliations and activities or just a leftist America-hater.

A couple of the old Hollywood communist Left is in this group (Grant, Jarrico, Salt, Gilford) along with the newer Left (Myerson, Voight), leftist-liberals (Reiner, Olmos, Gail) and the totally lost (Tony Randall). A good part of the Hanoi Lobby showed up on this list as were members of the Communist Party/black extremist legal groups (Ratner, Jackson, Ripston), and the radical clergy (Cox, Lawson, Webber, Wheaton).
