Lincoln Chafee
Template:TOCnestleft Lincoln Chafee was a Republican U.S. Senator from Rhode Island. He dropped out of the Republican Party and became an independent. On April 6, 2009, Chafee announced the formation of an exploratory committee for a possible run for governor of Rhode Island in 2010.

The Council for a Livable World, founded in 1962 by long-time socialist activist and alleged Soviet agent, Leo Szilard, is a non-profit advocacy organization that seeks to "reduce the danger of nuclear weapons and increase national security", primarily through supporting progressive, congressional candidates who support their policies. The Council supported Lincoln Chafee in his successful Senate run as candidate for Rhode Island.[1]
