In 2019 Kevork Abazajian stood from AD 74 for the California Democratic Party Central Committee.
Kev is an astrophysicist who teaches new generations of students, workers and leaders as a Professor of Physics and Astronomy at the University of California, Irvine. He also serves as the Director of the Center for Cosmology at the university.
Kev is also a member and serves for a number of organizations, including the CSU-UC Cal-Bridge Undergraduate Program, the UC Irvine Council on Faculty Welfare, the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the Friend of Science Network, the Union of Concerned Scientists, the Board of Advisors and California Coordinator for 314 Action (former), the Armenian National Committee of America, the Armenian Assembly of America, the American Astronomical Society, and the American Physical Society. Kev’s passion for civic engagement and politics dates back several decades, during which he’s helped the right candidates get elected and mobilized Democrat voters to make their voice heard through the ballot box.
Kev earned his Ph.D. and M.S. in physics from the University of California, San Diego, and his B.S. in physics from the University of Houston, University Park.[1]
