In 2002 John Strauss served on DSA’s National Political Committee and was liaison between full-time faculty and part-timer activists during their organizing drive at Bucks County Community College in Pennsylvania where he taught (full-time) in the English Department.[1]

In 2004 John Strauss was a member[2]of the Democratic Socialists of America National Political Committee, cochair of Greater Philadelphia DSA, and served on the Democratic Left editorial committee.
In 2009 Strauss was Greater Philadelphia contact for Democratic Socialists of America[3].
DSA Renegotiate NAFTA petition
In 2009 John Strauss signed a petition calling on President Barack Obama to Renegotiate NAFTA. The petition was initiated and circulated by Democratic Socialists of America.[4]
