Jennifer Thomas grew up in the wilds of suburban Miami, Florida. Watching pelicans die from the effects of DDT in the 1970s, she became a lifelong environmentalist. Reading science fiction as a teenager inspired her to imagine how the world could be different. She now lives on the North Shore of Massachusetts, where she has been a wife, mother, all-around machinist, union activist, teacher, and science writer.[1]
