April 2015 the Metropolitan Council on Housing, one of New York’s leading voices for tenants and tenant rights, announcedthat it had hired Ava Farkas as its new executive director. She replaces Jaron Benjamin, who left last November to work at the HIV/AIDS advocacy group Housing Works.
