Background

Jensen holds a bachelor's degree in biology from Iowa State University. She worked at Monsanto in Iowa doing genetic engineering, applied for a position in St. Louis and moved there in 2000. Corporate changes led to a layoff in 2002.

With some down time, she dived into her first home research project. She now runs Sherlock Homes.

Jensen offers her clients a peek into the past of the homes they live in. She investigates the background of a home, unearthing its past occupants, their professions and whatever family tidbits have survived the years. She learns when the structure was built and discovers any events that may have occurred on the property.

Jensen leafs through census records, items at the Missouri Historical Society research library, books, biographies and Internet sources. She also visits offices in City Hall, such as the recorder of deeds and assessor's office, seeks out building permits haunts the archives department.[1]

She is the past president of the Shaw Neighborhood Improvement Association, serves on the Grand South Grand House Tour committee, and is active in the 8th Ward Independent Democratic Association.

Democratic Committeewoman

Cara Jensen is the Democratic Committeewoman of the 8th Ward in the City of St. Louis.

This is my second term as Committeewoman, previously I was a board member of the Eighth Ward Independent Democratic Association (EWIDA), former president of the Shaw Neighborhood Improvement Association, have co-chaired the Grand South Grand House Tour, and founded Sherlock Homes, a historical research company. My husband and I reside in the Shaw neighborhood where our two children attend St. Louis Public Schools. [2]

Now What? Defying Trump and the Left's Way Forward was a phone in webinar organized by Freedom Road Socialist Organization in the wake of the 2016 election.

Now what? We’re all asking ourselves that question in the wake of Trump’s victory. We’ve got urgent strategizing and work to do, together. Join Ash-Lee Woodard Henderson of the Movement for Black Lives and Freedom Road, Calvin Cheung-Miaw, Jodeen Olguin-Taylor of Mijente and WFP, Joe Schwartz of the Democratic Socialists of America, and Sendolo Diaminah of Freedom Road for a discussion of what happened, and what we should be doing to build mass defiance. And above all, how do we build the Left in this, which we know is the only solution to the crises we face?

This event will take place Tuesday November 15, 2016 at 9pm Eastern/8pm Central/6pm Pacific.
