Brian Avison became involvemed in the unemployed movement in 1975. Moved to Wellington to work for Young Christian Workers Movement and was later involvement with Wellington Unemployed Workers Union. Worked overseas with International Young Christian Workers including in West Africa and Asia. Returned to New Zealand towards the end of 1981 and recalls helping to set up the Auckland Unemployed Workers Rights Centre and later the Auckland Unemployed Workers Union.[1]

Sue Bradford, Bill Bradford, Brian Avison, Zoe Truell and were all Workers Communist League members involved in the unemployed workers movement.[2]
