Bennett Shoop graduated from West Springfield High School in Fairfax, VA. Bennett has demonstrated leadership in the campaign for the Fairfax County School Board to include sexual orientation and gender identity in their health education standards, in involvement as an attendee and trainer at SMYAL’s Activist Camp, and as a GSA leader. We are honoring Bennett for their commitment to social justice, their perseverance in the face of bullying, and their demonstrated personal integrity. Bennett will attend George Mason University in the fall, where they will study Social Justice with a plan to become involved with litigation or lobbying efforts.
