Ben Nelson

Ben Nelson was a Democratic member of the United States Senate, representing the state of Nebraska.

Supported by Council for a Livable World

The Council for a Livable World, founded in 1962 by long-time socialist activist and alleged Soviet agent, Leo Szilard, is a non-profit advocacy organization that seeks to "reduce the danger of nuclear weapons and increase national security", primarily through supporting progressive, congressional candidates who support their policies. The Council supported Ben Nelson in his successful Senate run as candidate for Nebraska.[1]

"Sixty votes are needed to begin debate on the measure, and Senate leaders said they're confident they'll get the votes to proceed after talking with three wavering moderates, Arkansas' Blanche Lincoln, Louisiana's Mary Landrieu and Nebraska's Ben Nelson," adds McClatchy Newspapers' David Lightman.

Nelson said he remained undecided.

"It is a motion to start debate on a bill and to try to improve it,' Nelson said.[2]
