Alex Ettling

Alex Ettlingis a social historian based in Melbourne, Australia. His historical practise incorporates writing, graphics and audio, often working in collaboration. Alex has been conducting an oral history program since 2018, in association with Melbourne's Living Museum of the West. He is a co-editor, with Iain McIntyre, of Knocking The Top Off: A People's History of Alcohol in Australia. It was concern for the environment that initiated Alex's involvement in socialist organising in the late 90s and his support for the labour movement continues to this day. Alex joined the management committee of Interventions in 2019.[1]

"Comrades! Lives of Australian Communists"

To mark the centenary of the Communist Party of Australia in 2020, the SEARCH Foundation, in association with the Australian Society for the Study of Labour History, compiled 100 short biographies of Australian communists, to produce a book "Comrades! Lives of Australian Communists".
