Eleanor Simmonds

Eleanor Simmonds, 1927 – 2013, was a founding member of the San Diego Democratic Socialists of America local and was active in the San Diego left at least as early as 1975. In those early days, most of the local’s organizing meetings were held in her and her equally activist husband Victor Richmond’s home. Richmond died in 1993.

In those years of her political activism, Eleanor Simmonds was a key contributor to the San Diego DSA newsletter, and wrote book reviews for almost every monthly issue.[1]
