Tom Hirschl is co-editor, "Cutting Edge: Technology, Information Capitalism and Social Revolution, " a book that examines the technological revolution and its implications for society. It brings together contributions from workers employed in the electronics and information industries with theorists in economics, politics and science. A sociologist on the faculty of Cornell University, Tom Hirschl writes and speaks about how new technology in capitalist economies creates progressively higher levels of structural unemployment. He co-authored a paper that received a "Research Paper of the Year" award by the Society for Social Work and Research. As a Cornell faculty professor, his activities include team teaching of "Critical Perspectives on American Empire" and organizing with the Cornell Forum for Justice and Peace.
