History

From the Huffington Post:[1]

In 2013, John Hoffman founded The Public Good Projects, a non-profit production company created to provide a continuous and permanent supply of innovative media that improve the health behaviors of Americans young and old. Prior to this, John was a part of HBO Documentary Films for 17 years where, in addition to his executive role as vice president, he most recently executive produced and directed multiple-Emmy®-nominated The Weight of the Nation, a groundbreaking multi-part series presented by HBO in an unprecedented collaboration with the Institute of Medicine (IOM), in association with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the National Institutes of Health (NIH). Made in partnership with the Michael & Susan Dell Foundation and Kaiser Permanente and three years in the making, it is one of the most far-reaching public health campaigns on this epidemic to date.

Pay to Convince Black and Hispanic People to Get the Shot

File:TIOS Public Good Project.jpg

On January 20, 2023, This Is Our Shot and #VacunateYa advertised a "a paid opportunity" for "health professionals in the Orlando, Tampa, or Miami areas" willing to appear at "town halls" sponsored by Infectious Disease Prevention Network and "community organizations" in order to convince mainly "Black and Hispanic/Latinx community members" to take the Covid19 vaccine.[4]

Verbatim from the email:

January 20, 2023
Dear TIOS/VY members,
We all know that vaccines should not be a polarizing issue. Yet the pandemic has politicized fact-based information to such an extent that vaccine hesitancy around even routine immunizations is rising.
To help combat this problem, the Infectious Disease Prevention Network (IDPN) has plans to host several community town halls in Florida. These town halls will provide a respectful forum for community members to ask health care professionals their vaccine-related questions.
But IDPN needs our help.
We’re looking for health professionals in the Orlando, Tampa, or Miami areas who would like to participate in IDPN’s town halls. Meetings will be co-hosted by community organizations and predominantly attended by Black and Hispanic/Latinx community members. You don’t need to be a vaccine expert, but you do need to have a passion for empowering communities with fact-based information about vaccines. An honorarium will be offered to participants.
If you or someone you know is interested, please reach out to Contact@ThisIsOurShot.info.
