In the late 2000s, Prasad Venugopal was an assistant editor of University of Minnesota based Marxist journal Nature, Society and Thought[6];.

"Two conversations"

Venugopal is a leading member of the Detroit Area Peace and Justice Network, and served two terms on the national steering committee of United for Peace and Justice. He is an associate professor of physics at the University of Detroit Mercy.

Speaking at a People's World forum in Detroit in late 2009, Venugopal said it is "very, very important to have two conversations. One, we do need long-term changes in U.S. foreign policy. At the same time, we need to win victories now. We have to find ways to broaden the conversation and link the fight for health care, the Employee Free Choice Act and jobs to the spending on war."[7]

Dr. Prasad Venugopal is the Associate Professor of Physics at the University of Detroit Mercy. He holds a Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. He has published papers in theoretical physics and physics education research, and on the social uses and implications of engineering technology.
He is a member of the Michigan chapter of the U.S. Peace Council, which is affiliated with the World Peace Council. He served two terms as an elected member of the National Steering Committee of United for Peace & Justice, a national anti-war coalition based in the U.S. He is also active in numerous local peace and justice organizations, including as a Coordinating Committee member of the Detroit Area Peace with Justice Network (DAPJN).
Dr. Venugopal also served on the editorial boards of Political Affairs magazine and Nature, Society and Thought.
