Former Ambassador Nancy Soderberg has 30 years of experience in foreign policy and currently serves as the director of the University of North Florida’s Public Service Leadership Program.
She is challenging Republican incumbent Ron DeSantis in a Florida coastal seat dominated by Volusia County. The district lines were redrawn in 2016 making it more competitive. Even before then, Barack Obama carried the district once and Democratic Senator Bill Nelson carried it twice.
From 1993 to 1997 she served as the third ranking official of the National Security Council at the White House and as Deputy Assistant to the President for National Security Affairs, following her role as Staff Director of the National Security Council. Moreover, she served as the Foreign Policy Director for the Clinton/Gore 1992 Campaign, as well as the Transition Team, and worked as the Senior Foreign Policy Advisor to Senator Edward Kennedy.
Ambassador Soderberg publishes and speaks regularly on national security policy. She will be a natural national security leader in the House of Representatives.[2]
