Movimiento Cosecha
Movimiento Cosecha, often referred to as just Cosecha, advocates for amnesty for illegal aliens. They are very engaged in the movement to grant drivers' licenses to illegal aliens. Movimiento Cosecha describes themselves as "a network of immigrant leaders, families, and workers running local and national campaigns".
They "launched publicly" in 2015 and have chapters throughout America, where they "are organizing [our] communities to mobilize in the streets and fight for what we deserve: permanent protection for all undocumented immigrants."
Movimiento Cosecha works closely with other radical left organizations, such as the Democratic Socialists of America.
Background
Excerpt from the Movimiento Cosecha website:[1]
- ...Our movement emerged from a year and a half of strategic planning by immigrant rights and Dreamer organizers who have watched politicians battle for our votes, only to stall legislation year after year. For this reason, Cosecha doesn't rely on traditional tactics or dance with political parties. Instead, we're going on the offensive and calling for a series of strikes and boycotts to show that this country cannot function without immigrants. Our campaigns are multifaceted but all focus on building the power of the immigrant community and activating the public to our support strategy and cause.
- Since launching publicly in July 2015, Cosecha has grown into a diverse, decentralized network of organizers supporting communities in over 20 states across the country.
May Day Endorsement from DSA
On May 1, 2017, the Democratic Socialists of America "endorsed Movimiento Cosecha’s call for a Día Sin Inmigrantes (Day Without Immigrants)."
- "DSA local groups from New York to California are working with them and other immigrants’ rights group active in their communities. As socialists, we know that immigrants’ rights and labor rights are intertwined...You can join in the massive strikes, boycotts, and other actions beginning May 1st..."
