LEFT ACTION WINS BIG AT UNSW SRC ELECTIONS!
Left Action have won the Education Office (Cherish Kuehlmann) , Environment Office (Gina Elias) and Ethno-Cultural Officer (Diya Sengupta) positions, 5 council spots for the SRC council and 3 delegates for the National Union of Students. This is a great victory for a fighting activist left on campus.
Left Action have made our goal clear - we want to rebuild a fighting student union movement that can stand up for student’s rights, education and social justice issues. There has never been a more important time to rebuild this fighting culture in student activism. We are seeing a cost of living crisis eating into the living conditions of students. Education is being seen more and more as just another product to be bought and sold. Across the world, we are seeing the growth of right-wing politics that wants to wind back all the rights that we have won over decades of hard-fought battles. Now, more than ever, do we need a fighting student movement that can take up the fight for LGBTQI+ and women’s rights, stand up against racism, for real climate justice and against the beating drums of war.
