In 2018 Josh Harder (D-CA-10) for House, was endorsed by Council for a Livable World.
- Josh Harder, a fifth-generation resident of California’s Central Valley, is running to represent California’s Tenth Congressional District. Harder faces Republican incumbent Rep. Jeff Denham.
- Josh began his career as a management consultant with the Boston Consulting Group. During this time, he took a leave of absence to organize small farmers in Kenya and Uganda with the Gates Foundation and other nonprofit organizations.
- Today he is the vice president of Bessemer Venture Partners, which works to grow small businesses. Josh was on the team that successfully helped to grow Blue Apron, a company that delivers ingredients and recipes to busy households, into a multi-billion-dollar company.
- Josh argues that, “Diplomacy is the most effective tool in our arsenal. I support engagement before military action.”[3]
He was endorsed again 2020.
- Josh Harder is a first-term Member from the central portion of California and includes Stanislaus County and southern San Joaquin County. He defeated an incumbent Republican by 52%-48% in an upset.
- Since entering the House, he has accumulated a virtually perfect voting record on nuclear arms control and other national security issues.
- Harder graduated from Stanford University with degrees in political science and economics, as well as a joint MBA/MPP from Harvard Business School and Kennedy School of Government. Prior to entering Congress, he was a venture capitalist and educator.
- In the House, he serves on the House Agriculture, and Education and Labor committees.[4]
Patterson Progressive Alliance
Shivaugn Alves co-founded the Patterson Progressive Alliance (PPA), which is a group of community members who look to engage neighbors on a variety of issues. Recent topics that the PPA has participated in include: homelessness, affordable housing, air quality, and various congressional race activities, including a town hall for then congressional candidate Josh Harder.[5]
Medicare for All Act
In February 2019 Rep. Pramila Jayapal introduced H.R.1384 - Medicare for All Act of 2019. By May 29 she had 110 co-sponsors including Rep. Josh Harder.
