Standing for AD 2

In 2019 Jerry Eaton stood from AD 2 for the California Democratic Party Central Committee.

My name is Jerry Eaton and I am an educator and member of the California Teachers Association (CTA), the largest union of teachers in the state of California. For the past 10 years, I have been a part of State Council, the 800-member CTA legislative body, where I currently serve as CTA Board Liaison to the State Legislation committee. Over the past 4 years, released from my classroom duties, I have served on the CTA Board of Directors, working with educators from San Francisco, along the coast to the Oregon border.

Over the years, I have worked on several California statewide campaigns (Prop 30/32, Prop 55, Tom Torlaksen for SPI) as well as on local school board elections (including my own); precinct walking, phone banking, lit drops, conducting public forums. In Solano County, I served on the Democratic Central Committee.

Although a Democrat, I have been frustrated with the actions/activities of both the DNP and CADEM. Then along came Bernie Sanders, not a Democrat, but presenting the perfect progressive agenda. My goal is to be elected, then work from within to promote positive change toward a Democratic Party which returns to its progressive roots.

As progressives, we want our values to be a part of the DNP platform (Just as was promised to Bernie Sanders when he agreed to stop his 2016 campaign for president). As your ADEM delegate, I will work to ensure that the values of environment, racial and social justice, economic justice, free access to a public education, Immigration Reform, DACA, non-violence, single-payer healthcare and other progressive values are a part of the California Democratic Party platform.
