Originally the Young Patriot Party was a part of the original Rainbow Coalition – a coalition between the Young Lords, Young Patriot Party and the Black Panther Party. Discussion on how, in the late 1960s, white youth in Eugene, Oregon and poor white youth and displaced hillbillies from Chicago’s Uptown formed an alliance with the Black Panthers to alleviate oppressive conditions for poor whites nationwide.
