Dr. Geoff Curthoys was a senior lecturer in Chemistry at the University of Newcastle. Married to Barbara Curthoys. Father of Ann Curthoys and Jean Curthoys.

In 1972 Geoff Curthoys stood as a Socialist Party of Australia candidate for the parliamentary seat of Shortland. Had previously stood for the Communist Party of Australia.[1]
Pro-Soviet dissidents
At the 1970 Communist Party of Australia Congress, a number of these pro-Soviet members were not returned to the National Committee, including Edgar Ross, W.J. Brown, Freda Brown, Elliott V. Elliott, Ralph Gibson, Geoff Curthoys, Tom Wright, Judah Waten, and Jim Mitchell.
