Template:TOCnestleft Evan Bayh is a Democratic member of the United States Senate, representing Indiana. He was first elected to his position in 1998.

Bayh was born in Shirkieville, Indiana. He graduated with honors in business economics from Indiana University in 1978, and earned his law degree from the University of Virginia in 1981. He was elected Indiana's Secretary of State in 1986.

IN 1988, Bayh was elected to the first of two terms as Governor of Indiana,

"Mr. Bayh's record," reported the Wall Street Journal in 1992, "is one of a genuinely fiscally conservative Democrat."

In January 2005, he led the creation of the Third Way. Bayh also served for more than four years as Chairman of the Democratic Leadership Council.

Bayh and his wife, Susan have twin boys, Beau and Nick.[1]
