Background
Dimitri Shein is a retired CPA. His background is he started a CPA firm and traveled as an auditor and CPA working with tribal governments, then he invented a planter box.
- People like these big, metal boxes for planters, and you weld it and ship it and, basically you’re shipping air. I figured out how to ship it flat. My company is called Nice Planter.[1]
Standing for Congress
Dimitri Shein was just 12 years old when he emigrated to Alaska from Vladivostok, Russia in 1993. His memories of the last days of the Soviet Empire aren’t extensive, but ever since the election of Vladimir Putin’s biggest admirer as the President of the United States, Shein is seeing the America he’s loved and called home for 25 years begin to bear more resemblance to the land of his birth.
Now, the retired CPA and entrepreneur is aiming to do something about this trend, and has risen to be one of two front-runners in the Democratic Primary vying for the shot to take on Don Young, the longest-serving member of the House of Representatives, in November’s general election.[2]
