Standing for AD 15

In 2019 Devin Murphy stood from AD 15 for the California Democratic Party Central Committee.

CEO/President, DTM Strategies – a progressive political digital firm. Member, Lambda Democrats of Contra Costa County. Incumbent AD15 Delegate, California Democratic Party*

A lifelong Democrat active in electoral politics and activism, I hail from San Francisco, where I grew up understanding the importance of our fight against mass incarceration, advancing climate justice, and creating brave spaces for our LGBTQ family. I am running to be a Delegate because I believe every human being deserves the dignity and the freedom to thrive, and I am committed to building a party that upholds this as core to our Democratic values.

My journey in politics began in high school as an intern for State Senator Lois Wolk, a champion legislator for environmentalism and quality healthcare. This would just be the very beginning of my journey. After completing my internship, I became a field organizer for President Barack Obama’s 2008 campaign and later for Rep. Ami Bera’s 2010 campaign. After graduating in 2011, I attended UCLA, where I served as External Vice President of the Bruin Democrats at UCLA, supporting progressive campaigns including Prop 30 and 32 in 2012 as well as Prop 47 in 2014. Engaging in Democratic politics inspired me to support campaigns I believed in and propelled me to firmly use my voice. I was soon elected as UCLA’s Student Body President. During college, I was elected as Southern California Regional Director of the California College Democrats and later as Communications Director of the California Young Democrats, where I was also summoned by my peers to serve as Chair of the Technology & Innovation and Black Caucuses concurrently.

Since relocating to Pinole after college, I’ve served as Associate Member of the Democratic Central Committee of Contra Costa. I am also an active member of the Contra Costa Young Democrats, Black Young Democrats of East Bay, and the Lambda Democrats. As CEO of DTM Strategies, a digital marketing agency, I’ve supported digital technology organizing for campaigns, including U.S. Senator Kamala Harris and Richmond Councilwoman Jovanka Beckles.[1]
