Admiration for Harrison Brown

In a tribute to Harrison Brown by John Holdren in the March 1987 edition of the The Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists, Elliot is quoted as saying:

"For more than ten years we worked quite closely at Caltech, and he proved to be not only an inspiring colleague but also a staunch friend. He was full of ideas, fertile in resource and totally reliable in execution. We worked together on many projects - on arms control, on the 75th anniversary of Caltech, on population problems - and he was always an interesting and constructive partner. I always enjoyed consulting with him. He was also a kind friend, visited me when I was ill, supported me in heavy weather and generously expressed appreciation. I have missed him in recent years and now grieve that he is gone."[1]
