David Bennett is a New Zealand Member of Parliament.

Cuban officials

Wellington, 30th of May 2013. As part of the activities of their visit to New Zealand, the Cuban delegation led by General Luis Perez Rospide, Head of Information and Control Group of the Commission for Implementation and Development of the Guidelines of the Sixth Party Congress, held a fruitful exchange with representatives of the Parliamentary Group of Friendship with Latin America and the Latin American-New Zealand Business Council.

After a brief introduction by the Ambassador of Cuba, Maria del Carmen Herrera Caseiro, the Chief of the Cuban delegation and their companions, Drs. Adriano Garcia Hernandez, also a member of the Commission, and Ricardo Torres Pérez, a researcher at the Center for the Study of the Cuban Economy, offered an overview of the country's economy and the process of updating the Cuban economic model.

In their speeches President and Co-President of the Parliamentary Group, Hon Trevor Mallard and David Bennett, respectively, expressed appreciation for Cuba's social achievements, particularly in the areas of health and education, noting the importance of preserving them in this reform process in Cuba. Both agreed in criticizing the U.S. economic blockade against Cuba as an obstacle to the country's development. Vice-president of the Latin American-New Zealand Business Council, Peter Cullen, also took the opportunity to thank the Cuban delegation.-

Also participating in the activity were the Ambassadors of Argentina, Brazil and Chile, officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, as well as the counselor of the Embassy of Cuba in New Zealand, Manuel Sánchez Oliva.[1]
