Standing for AD 50

In 2019 Chris Bowen stood from AD 50 for the California Democratic Party Central Committee.

I have served as a delegate to the California Democratic Party since 2014 in the 50th Assembly District. From 2014-2016 I served as an appointed delegate by progressive Senator Ben Allen (and former Progressive Slate Member). I served as an elected delegate from 2016- 2018. I am running again on the Progressive Slate as an adopted gay young immigrant and person of color committed to a more equitable and diverse Democratic Party that is more in tune with the grassroots.

The California Democratic Party should live up to its ideals that young people, LGBT people, immigrants, and people of color have a seat at the table. When we have diverse voices coming together to make decisions, I believe we will come to more progressive and equitable conclusions.

As President of the Stonewall Young Democrats, I mobilize young people of color to become more engaged in our party. We support liberal immigrants, women, and people of color when they seek elected and appointed positions of power. Growing up in Vermont and having worked for United States Senator Bernie Sanders on The Hill in Washington D.C. as a legislative intern, I know how important campaign finance reform, SINGLE PAYER HEALTHCARE, and the environmental movement is to our Party.

We must end the senseless drug war, end the never ending wars abroad, and return the power to the people! I married a Central American immigrant who fled to this country for a better life and came here with nothing. Marriage equality, reforming and broadening immigration laws, ending poverty and homelessness, increasing diversity, and protecting our LA beaches and forests aren’t just boxes I tick off to garner political support; they are the issues of my family, they are what I believe in, and part of who I am.
