ProgressNow Nevada
ProgressNow Nevada labels itself as a marketing department for progressive ideas and an answer to conservative propaganda. They were founded in 2005. ProgressNow Nevada is a part of the ProgressNow network that has 2.4 million online members and hopes to expand to 25 states.[1]
They are a non-profit advocacy network for progressive change in Nevada and they support progressive government. Recently, they set up two pages entitled Progressives for Reid and Progressives for Harry Reid to show their support for the beleaguered Senator. Primary issues concentrated on are Nevada's Clean Energy Future, Sustainable Water Usage and Affordable and Accessable Health Care. [2]
About
ProgressNow, previously known as the Rocky Mountain Progressive Network, was founded in 2003. ProgressNow's sister organization is ProgressNow Education.[3] The Founding Chairman is Rollie Heath, a Boulder executive who was elected as the 18th District State Senator in 2008. The organization is run by Executive Director Michael Huttner, a UC Hastings law graduate and lawyer turned political consultant.[4] The Deputy Director is Bobby Clark, who was part of Howard Dean's online campaign.[5]
Its founding Board Members include Wes Boyd, founder of MoveOn.org[6], Rob McKay, Chairman of the Board of the Democracy Alliance and President of the McKay Family Foundation[7], Jared Polis, elected in 2008 as the U.S. Congressman for Colorado’s 2nd District[8], and Ted Trimpa (Chair), a lawyer in Hogan and Hartson’s government relations practice[9].
History and Mission
ProgressNow was formed to counter the conservative Independence Institute. In Colorado alone, their subscriber base exceeds 350,000 members.[10] In 2006, ProgressNow began to expand its network outside of Colorado and has since created ProgressNow Partners Networks in twelve other states: Progress Ohio, Courage Campaign (CA), Progress Florida, Progress Michigan, Alliance for a Better Minnesota, ProgressNow Nevada, Granite State Progress (NH), Clearly New Mexico, Keystone Progress (PA), FUSE Washington, and One Wisconsin Now. As of January, 2010 the organization had over 2.4 million online members and hopes to expand to 25 states.
