Vernice Miller and Peggy Shepherd of West Harlem Environmental Action; Marjorie Moore; Jose Morales, Toxic Avengers of El Puente and Nina LaBoy, South Bronx Coalition for Clean Air were speakers on the Environmental Racism vs. Environmental Justice panel sponsored by the DSA African American Commission at the Tenth Annual Socialist Scholars Conference. The conference was held April 24-26, 1992 at the Borough of Manhattan Community College, New York City.

Miller also spoke alongside Jose Luis Morin, Center for Constitutional Rights; Wing Lam, Chinese Staff and Workers Union; Marc Greenberg, Interfaith Association on Housing and Home and Annie Ellman, Center for Non-Violence Education were speakers on the Radical Transformation: Organizing Communities in New York City panel sponsored by the North Star Fund.
