"This year marks the 20th Anniversary of the attack on the Moncada Garrison which sparked the Cuban revolution. Today Cuba is the only country in the Western Hemisphere with full employment. It has the highest literacy rate and the lowest infant mortality rate of Latin America, comprehensive medical care, and free education. The number one domestic priority is the construction of decent housing for all."

"Yet we never hear these things because the U.S. government restricted travel and the free flow of information. In fact at every step of the way Washington has tried to crush the revolutionary government of Cuba through armed attacks (remember the Bay of Pigs), and economic blockade, and through attempts to isolate Cuba diplomatically. But these attempts to destroy the Cuban revolution have not been successful. In spite of the  U.S. refusal to trade with Cuba, the Cuban economy has grown."

"Regardless of the travel restrictions, Northern Americans have visited Cuba, brigades have worked there and the exchange of information cannot be repressed. Campaigns against repression in the U .S. generate the active support of the Cuban people. This unity was demonstrated when [[Billy Dean Smith]] and [[Angela Davis]] visited Cuba. Billy Dean Smith, guest of honor on this occassion, will share his first-hand experiences in Cuba during this year of the 20th anniversary."

"July 26th, 1973 provides an opportunity for us to learn and gain a new perspective on the last 20 years in Cuba. the July 26th Organizing Committee, a group primarily of North Americans who have traveled to Cuba, also invites you to a series of films, photo and art displays, music and dance presentations. This exposition will be held Saturday and Sunday, jly 28 and 29, at the Oakland High School Auditorium, 3233 park Blvd.

July 26th Organizing Committee

Background

An ambitious communist/marxist coalition was formed because "July 26th, 1973, provides an opportunity for us to learn and gain a new perspective on the last 20 years in Cuba. The July 26th Organizing Committee (J26OC), a group primarily of North Americans who have traveled to Cuba," was formed by members of the Communist Party USA , black leftists and members of the CPUSA/DIG-created Venceremos Brigade to propagandize young Americans on behalf of Castro's communist dictatorship.

July 26th Organizing Committee Letterhead/Letter, mid-1973

An exhibit in the House Internal Security Committee hearings entitled "******" was that of a letter sent out by the J26OC, San Francisco, about the upcoming celebration there of the 20th anniversary of the Communist seizure of power in Cuba.
