DSA’s Cuba Letter
Samantha Power signed an April 2003 Statement on Cuba, initiated and circulated[1] by prominent Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) member Leo Casey, calling for the lifting of trade sanctions against Cuba.

The petition criticized Cuba's poor human rights record, but shared the blame for Cuba's problems with reactionary elements of the US administration...

Serving Obama
After the 2008 presidential election, Power returned to Obama's team, becoming a member of the transition team, working for the Department of State.
In January 2009 President Obama appointed[2]Samantha Power to the National Security Council, as director for multilateral affairs.
