Barbara Boxer is a Democratic member of the United States Senate, representing California. She was elected to her position in 1992, originally, and has been serving as the Chief Deputy Whip since 2005. She was a member of the United States House of Representatives for ten years and on Marin County Board of Supervisors for six years before her Senate career.
